Hello. I got my SL56 today unlocked from GSMPhoneSource. I have T-Mobile service and when I inserted my SIM card, everything was normal as it says "T-Mobile". However when I was pressing one of the buttons, all of a sudden the screen said "AT&T Network". Why did that happen and is it normal? Also, I seem to get a "Networking Searching" message a lot. Could someone please explain this to me please.

could it possibly be because your tmo signal is weak in your area and att one stronger? I've had no problems at all with my SL56 on tmobile at all in an area with also strong att gsm presence, and never got your problem.

You may have the band selection on automatic so it looks for the best local GSM signal. You probably need to set the band/signal setting on manual and then select 1900 which is the band that T-Mobile uses. That should stop the AT&T network from effecting you.

I unchecked the Automatic setting. However for preffered Network, there was no 1900 setting. Only T-Mobile and AT*T Network. Needless to say I chose T-Mobile. However, if I left it on Automatic, does it choose a better signal from various T-Mobile towers or does it choose the better signal between T-Mobile or AT&T? Also, if it automatically chooses the AT&T signal, do I get billed extra for this?

Dont worry about Roaming charges with t-mobile if you are on a plan with them, they have a roaming agreement with AT&T and Cingular and you wont get charged extra
