SL56 questions

I just got a new unlocked Siemens SL56 phone. I seem to always get a Network Searching message on my phone. I have T-mobile service. Is there anything I can do to improve my signal or any settings I can adjust on my phone that would help me? Also, I notice that the display dims slowly but when I press a button it brightens back up. Is this normal? If so, is there any way I can turn this feature off?

The network searching is quite common. Go into your network options menu and turn on the the fast search feature. That helps do reduce the time it takes the phone to search for the network again. I think it takes alittle extra battery life though.
The dimming after a few seconds is normal and is designed that way to save on battery life.
