i am using windows ME and try to syn. S40 via IrDA( it was working fine with T39). When i try to syn. the IrDA can find the phone easily, but it can't recieve/sny. data from the phone. Which means, the IrDA can indicates that the phone has already beening adapted;however, my PC or the syn. program just can't reach the phone and keep asking me to connect it to the serial port.

Does anyone has the same problem as me?! and knows how to solve the problem. i've just updated my version......and d/l the latest software as well.

You have to install a virtual COM port for IR in Win ME. See the numerous guides on the net.

i have seen ppl saying things about their win 2K but not ME. so, do u know where i can find the virtual COM port program for ME ?!

Posted by: HHMark

ME shouldn't need a virtual com port.

Make sure your settings in Xtend are correct and double check to ensure you've chosen the proper com port.

I am use USB IrDA, how can i set up Xtend correctly?! i just intalled everything and click synch. ~ i don't know that i have to set up some settings or com ports!?

ME definitely needs a virtual COM port. Since it is not supported out-of-the-box you have to do some registry tweaks.

can u plz teach me how to do it and where i can get the vitual com program from~or ppl wjho use ME now?!

Oh, come on, you know how to use Google, don't you? I found this within 5 seconds:

You know, it seems like whenever people ask questions on this board, you accuse them of being idiots. Did it ever occur to you that some folks are coming here because they aren't quite as knowledgeable?? That's the whole point of the forums, to SHARE information.

You obviously know a lot about the S40 -- so either contribute to the board and be helpful, or just cool it.

Thanx a lot F.Ruehl~ and don't be mad Broadbandman~~
world peace........

Broadbandman,

if you read this forum then you know that I share *a lot* of information. I help many people help themselves. But I am not willing to offer solutions that everybody can find by himself as easily as in this case. Some guys don't appreciate help - they just demand solutions immediately and without any efforts (this happens not only in this forum).
BTW: You never saw and never will see me insulting anybody in this forum.

Frank

joy wang, could you please tell me where did you get that USB IrDA adaptor? The only I could find is from the net, and cost around 60US+shipping and taxes and customs, which is too much

i bought it in taiwan....which is about $60 or $70 CND as well.

how about bofo or u2 which retails for about $35?
(see pricewatch or google)

Anybody have any complaints?

I have been on priceswatch, and they refer to AccessMicro but their website said :

From now on, no international, FPO, or APO deliveries will be made due to operation restructuring. However, orders placed prior to 7/5/99 will still be accepted and processed accordingly. This will be a permanent change.

Still trying to search cheap one who ships to canada.

And they suggested some other too. But no luck. Always got no international shipping.
