you need :

- 1 dead phone and 1 worked phone
- hot air station and soldering station

- microscope (optional, but recomended)

Steps :

- desolder from bad phone flash chip
- desolder from good phone flash chip
- solder in BAD phone works flash chip
- connect good phone with cable to PC
- run WinMoDo with GANG mode
- starting upload
- when you see in LCD : Flash loader - disconnect cable from phone
- in display you see Flash loader and phone frezee
- phone in FLASHING MODE !!!!
- YOU NEED DESOLDERING FLASH CHIP FROM WORKED,
POWERED AND FREEZED in flash mode PHONE !!!!!!!!
CAREFULY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
- DESOLDERING GOOD FLASH CHIP from BAD phone (phone still avaible in flash mode)
- SOLDER BAD FLASH CHIP in BAD PHONE
- PHONE STILL in FLASH MODE
- connect phone with cable to computer
- press OK
- you see uploading process - erasing 7-10 minute and flashing
- :-)) smile

P.S. use Winmodo with option writing BOOT, MAIN and LP flash

WARNING !!!!

if you lost original flash chip , you lost eeprom area !!!!!!!!!!!!
and when you solder another flash chip, repeat repair procedure
and power on phone - phone no powered !!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

sum questions to that:
what is the BGA chip.. how do i know if i have no or if i have one?
why 1 worked phone.. not one working phone ?
my sis has a gd87 with broken display.. will it work?!
again for dummies:

1. desolder chips from good and from the bad phone
2. solder the good chip into the bad phone
3. connect the good phone to pc (without flash Chip????)
4. run winmodo in Gang-Mode
5. start upload
6. in display u see: Flash Loader: Disconnect from Cable
7. then u see Flash Loader and phone freezes
8. phone is now in flashing mode
9. then, while the good phone is powered, connected and freezed u have to desolder the chip?! but i allready did in step 1
10. desolder the good flash from the bad phone (flash mode in the bad phone?.. but the flash mode is in the good phone or not?)
11. solder bad flash into the bad phone.
12. bad phone is still in flash mode?! it never was.. wasnt it the good phone in step 3 ?
13. connect the bad phone to pc and press okay !

could u awnser my questions and tell me if i got it right ?!
holla

You can try something else. Charge up your phone's battery with someone else's phone, and when it is charged connect your dead phone to WinMoDo whith battery deattached, and set the firmware and language packs and make everything green, boot, language, main, and start the download. When it says, turn on your phone, you just attach the battery and wait. FOr some people it has fixed the issue. It matters on what state did your phone died in.

thx ill try this... my battery is still full i think.. cuz this happend in the first 2 min of flashing... my phone said "missing sectors"
and winmodo was on "waiting for erase response".. i went nervous and stopped it after 2 and a half min.. i disconnected the cable and then i saw on my phone "erasing sectors" and then missing sectors again.. then i put the battery out... now its dead

Yes, if you remove the battery during Erasing Sector, you end up with a dead phone. However if your phone dies during the MAIN sections upload, you can recover it with the previously mentioned procedure. I flashed my phone with all the available themes that Hummer2k provided us with ,/ thanks man /, and they worked fine. What I did is, since the modded firmwares are A53 based, I made sure I have A53 on my phone before I start playing, and when I use the modded firmware, I dont have to click the BOOT section nor the LANGUAGE section, only the MAIN section. This way it is much safer. If you want to be even more cautious, do it from a notebook with a good battery that is also plugged to the wall, or a PC backed with a UPS power protection.

recently when I use winmodo to flash my phone, winmodo crashed with an MFC Application error. The program and the flashing still went on, just that there was a error popup on the screen. I didn't dare to press the close button since it will close winmodo down. So I let the flash complete and close it. scary It happened 3 times already

Sounds like WinMoDo and your release of Microsoft Windows are having an argument. Well, it is not that unusual, knowing Microsoft products. I would reinstal winmodo, and when you remove it, try to erase every WinMoDo related entry from the registry, and then reinstall it. It might sort out the issue.

but the you don't have to install winmodo, it's just unzip and run. So maybe I'll search in the registry and find entries there. But I doubt there is anything there....

Your absolutely right. I feel like I lost my mind. I am into my work too much. Sorry. However I looked into my registry, and I found a few entries under the following place:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1177238915-854245398-839522115-1001\Software\Panasonic\Downloader\1.0\Options\Dev elopment

I am running Win2K on this machine.

I also remebered that first time when I start Winmodo on a computer that I have never started it on, it gives me an error message right away. And that is the last time I see that. So it might put the registry entries while you start it first.

hey, for those who has a broken/dead GD88, can you open up the phone and check what CPU the phone is using? Mike (Flash Editor's author) wants to know!
