is there a data cable for the 8600? if there is, where can i find one?

I have checked with a couple of manufacturers and they told me that a data cable will not be available for another month or two since the phone is still pretty new.

Just some info.

I originally signed up with verizon service and got the 8300. I also ordered the data cable from supplynet the next day. got it yesterday, hooked it up works great with the ipaq 5455!

Was able to get my mail with express network.

I then today returned my phone since I like the speakerphone and found out that if I have keyguard on and I answr a call, I cannot not during that call switch to speakerphone! Major bug, audiovox says this is how it is.

So i got the 8600. nice phone on the web site it does not list that you get a holster but in the store you do.

So I hook up the supplynet cable and it works no problem at all.
Here is the link to get it:

This is the basic cable:

This is the cable plus a car charger hookup to charge the phone and ipaq at the same time this is the one I got. They also sell an ac adapter so you can charge both at the same time when not it the car!

Any questions just ask!

Hey trapperjohn:

Thanks for this info.

If i may ask... do you consider the 8600 to have the same, better, or worse reception than the 8300. Anything you don't like about the 8600 so far?

Thanks again.

I personally love my 8600. Just got it on Tues..and can't put it down.

Went in to Verizon today inquiring about a cable for an 8x00 or 9500 to try and interface with my phone and he checked the list and said a product ID had been assigned for the 8600 Mobile Office kit. Normally when it's assigned a code the warehouse is expecting it to arrive soon.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Noticed a strange echo problem last night .. hope it's not permanent. (yes, I did the *228 upgrade).

Hi,
Well the 8300 has a louder speaker for handsfree, the 8600 sounds to callers and to me hearing them the same clarity as the 8300.
The handsfree audiovox kist that plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a speaker mounter on the cigarete connector works for both the 8300 and 8600, even though the verizon package says 8300 and 8500, but on the audiovox site it shows it works for the 8600.
The data cable I got from supplynet.com for the 8300 which worked great also works great with the 8600, hooked up to my ipaq!
Battery time seems good used for about 1 hr talk time and 30 min data time ( expressnetwork verizon) and still only dropped 1 bar of battery power.
Reception seems to work well eventhough it may show 1 little bar next to the antenna symbol, I still have people says I sound very clear. These people aslo heard me on the 8300. I would say that the 8300 may be a little better with reception but not by alot, so its not big enough to use to choose with if both phones are equal otherwise.
The 8600 comes with a holster in the store, on the verizon website it says that it comes with a type of handstrap, so get it in the sotre thats where I got it from.
One big thing with charging the 8300 comes with the slow home charger and base, where as the 8600 comes with the fast travel charger but no base.
I found if you go into the menus and adjust the contrast for the screen you are then able to read it outside with sunlight.

If you need to know anything else just ask

Yes it's the data kit for the laptop so not only can you use it as a modem you can do your PIM transfers (for those who didn't know)and it was marked for 8500/8600 and BM=Bell Mobility.

Most of the 8500 accessories fit the 8600, well i had only got the car charger and data kit, but i gave them away already because i'm now waiting for BM to release their Smartphones with integrated cams
