Which one of these phones would be the better purchase?

Well, the 7650 is dual band so it wouldnt work in the US markets. That leaves you the option to get the sl55. Mine should be here monday or so. The style of the phone itself is just amazing.

seeing the sl55 in person made me wanna change my mind about getting the t616 altogether

I prefer SL 55 instead of 7650 !

The size is excellent ! Although yet the display seem to like a bit small.... but anyhow, i like the design....

why not? t-mobile supports 900/1800?

you can't use 900/1800 in U.S. so the phone's useless here

They're very different phones, the SL55 is a small beauty from an aesthetic point of view but tried using it for a couple of weeks and didn't like it too much - things like the screen not sliding up far enough so it kind of got in the way of the top row of keys making text messages annoying to write. The general build quality also just felt plain cheap and plasticky while the screen has nowhere near the sparkle of the E700 for example (though better than those like the 7250i )

The 7650 has got the camera, bluetooth (though no audio profile, unless they've sorted that out now) and everything. Haven't used it myself but those i know who did were very happy with it. I just don't like it as it's kind of plain ugly as well as being on the chunky side. this is much more of a business phone than the SL55 due to the bluetooth connectivity making Syncing much easier.

Basically if you want a petite pretty thing that's good to talk to go for the SL55, if you want to do more with it go for the 7650, but there's better handsets out there now anyway, whichever you're after.
