I actually found this out by mistake, but it turns out that the G50 recognizes .mmf ringtone files. Therefore, if you find any WAP sites that are for Samsung S10x, S20x, S30x, V20x, etc, the G50 will be able to use these ringtones. Some suggestions would be http://wap.s105.com or http://tagtag.com/free4mobile. The problem is that most of these sites only have 16 chord polyphonics, so you don't really hear the G50's potential since it supports up to 40 chord. At the tagtag WAP site, I did donate some Canto-pop ringtones that are 40 chord. Have fun .

so i won't need gprs to download these ringtones?

No GPRS isn't needed to download ringtones, CSD will be fine.

i have no clue either, please help!

Neither could I, nor Howard. I was talking to him today about it.. I don't think it supports GPRS and CSD is obviously not an option since Fido doesn't support it anymore...

So no GPRS for Panasonic G50? I heard some news that Panasonic will have an GPRS enable G51 or G52 in this month?

Is it true? or all G50 are Gprsless??

Posted by: peen

cant get mine to connect either.. dammit -=T

Posted by: t-mobile

hey peen could u send me some jay ringtones by sms

Posted by: mrtien

.mmf files, same as samsung. go to wap.s105.com but unfortunately it is down right now. in any case upload your own ringtones on tagtag.com. you can download theirs too. but Tzones is ALSO down right now. t-mobile...
at least they're giving me free tzones (unlimited megs) when it is back on.

Posted by: Maxideus

there is no way to download stuff to the g50 unless your provider still uses CSD.....cause you need GPRS in order to download.

I don't know how the other guys download ANY thing at all.

Posted by: oxymax

I can browse fine......but when I try to download stuff....it says "Save Failed"

how do you fix this?

Posted by: keroppi

I'm looking to invest in a GD50, but i don't want to if it doesn't support GPRS. So can any of you confirm that it doesn't support GPRS, coz i'm on the Rogers AT&T network and i know they use GPRS.

Posted by: Maxideus

no GPRS on the g50

wait for the g51 which would have the upgrade with GPRS.

Posted by: keroppi

So when does the GD51 come out?? coz i'm going to HK end of next month so if it's not out by then i'll probably get the GD50

Posted by: croakthedj

how the hell do I get ringtones on my g50 then?

Posted by: victor_vvv

i'm currently on rogers at&t....i was thinking, maybe i could get a friend who has a gprs capable phone to dl the pictures or polyphonic songs from a website, and then send it to me through sms or mms message? will that work?

Posted by: Ghostrider

Nope, I have a G51 I I tried emailing a pic to my phone. Did not come up, however when I switched phones & used my Siemens SL56, the email w/ the pic came up.

Also a couple pics I was able to d/l from another site, I got the pic, I can see it on my phone after I opened it. But it won't save it. So I can't use that pic for a wallpaper. I don't know if it was too big of a pic, at least if I can save the pic, I can see maybe some of it. But that was not the case, it would not save it.

I know this thread is old, but I just got my G51 today, so I'm researching.

I am able to download and use .mid, .mmf, and .smaf ringtone files. The "true-tone" (clips from the actual songs) ringers sound great on this phone. I am even able to get them directly from T-Mobile via their web site. I just tell the site I have a Samsung E715, and it will send a push message that lets me download both their "Megatones" and "Hi-Fi Ringtones".

I'm not sure if the G51 has different capabilities than the G50 other than GPRS, so that might make a difference.

I was able to get both GPRS and CSD working with T-Mobile, though.
