Help with Sharp GX20 data link to PC

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Love the Sharp GX20, but totally unable to get it to talk to a PC on the handset manager. Connexion shows on phone, manager installs on PC , but keeps trying to establish link. Have tried all of com1 to com 8 ports, but nothing. Sent back data cable and bought another- no difference.
And I may as well talk to a carrot as the people in the phone shop....

try to use irda connection

make sure you've selected right connection profile in the phone
(menu: 3-6-1 - datacable) before trying to connect to it

After installing and uninstalling files, drivers, etc I finally got it to work- seems the USB driver did not install properrly/work. I found another one from a web download, and that connected.
Relief
Incidentally the site sharp-mobile.com seems out of action, which is the one referred to in the handbook for help.

When I look at my pics on the computer, it reinforces the need to keep the GX20 camera steady...

Hello, I'm experiencing the same problem : handset manager tells me "try to connect to the phone". Indeed the link seems to work for a second then disconnect. I have already adapted my IR speed and activated IR on my handset... What else can I check ???? Thanks for your reply !

i got my gx22 from smartone in Hongkong but left the cd back there and i'm in vancouver..

danm anyhelp, i'm using the IRport on my laptop

i could use my pocketpc irport too if it would help

is there an actuall gx22 version of the software on the sharp site??

Geez... been using the IR modem instead of the data link IR no wonder nuthin got transfered
anyway dun think u can transfer java into the phone via IR( not with handset manager anyway). telco's not gonna make money if they allowed it. my damn telco is charging US$2 for a game. amazing!

its certain that you CANT transfer java through ir that has been said a thousand times. the question is if you can transfer java using the usb cable

Sharp have now actually changed there site and said that the infra red and data cable can only be used as a modem for your computer!! i am still having problems. it connected once and i swapped 66 pictures from my phone, then the computer crashed (because i was doing something in the background) and i have not been able to use it since!! How annoying

Please email dajoebomb@hotmail.com if you have any more info on this subject!

Thanks
