M56 netmonitor ?

I swear I posted this question the other day, but now it's missing...

Anyways, has anyone that has the new M56 confirmed that the netmonitor program that works on the S46 and S56 also works on the M56? Here's a link to the program that enables it on the other Siemnens models http://www.lcard.ru/~gorinov/xsiemens.html

Thanks.

*bump*

Has anyone gotten Netmonitor on the M56?. I took a look at one the other day and I would like to know before I get it.

I just played with a friend's M56 today. It has no IR port - so that would only leave the data cable option as a way to make netmonitor work with the program - if it does work with the M56.

From my experience between the S56 and S46, the netmonitor follows the SIM.
I enabled net monitor on my S46, then put that SIM into the S56, and netmonitor was enabled on the S56.
if you have the *MONITOR code in your SIM phonebook it should work for the other phone.

I'll have to try that when I see my friend in a few weeks again.

How do you guys like the S46? I am on tmo right now, so I really wouldnt use the tdma, but if the reception is decent i could use another phone with netmonitor. I did glance at the M56 recently. I really liked the screen. I dont know if it would be worth it w/o either bt or ir though.

IMO it's not really worth it unless you are going to use TDMA. There are much better GSM phones out there. Nevertheless, I find reception is quite good on the S46.

GSM is 900/1900 and TDMA is 850/1900

Better siemens phones? I have plenty of nokia's, a SE, two Moto's, and the siemens. The nokias I have, especially the new ones dont allow the netmonitor. I am not sure about my t300, but reception is so shoddy on it that it really would only be a laugh. I dont think my motos will support that either. Netmonitor is really a cool feature. I am still learning how it exactly works, but it is interesting.

Just wait till you get used to it. I refuse to own a phone without it now.
A phone without Field Test is like driving a sports car with no tachometer or mirrors.

Needsless to say I won't buy another Nokia phone because of the lack of Field Test / Net monitor.

So I'm trying to use the monitor that is built into the s46 (menu#) but once I'm in I don't know what I'm looking at. Anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

This is the best site I've found http://web.quick.cz/s45/sm/ Even though it's not entirely in English, you can get a good idea of what you're looking at.

I've been looking at gettiing a Nokia 6340i - which will do net monitor (field test), and has GSM & TDMA on both US bands. I'm just not sure if I can buy a dummy, or unactivated GAIT SIM card that would function so I can just use it for test purposes on the ATTWS network. If the 6340i only had GPRS or EDGE - then it just might be the perfect phone for what I want a phone to offer.

Gotta watch though... As far as I know the 6340i has no way to manually switch to TDMA from GSM, which means if you end up in an area where there is poor GSM signal, the phone will never switch to TDMA, yet you won't be able to make or receive calls on GSM.

as adding to my e-mail to you, You could also just throw your S46 sim in the 6340i to test GSM 850/1900 but the phone would never go to TDMA (but who wants to test that anyway as you can grab any nokia TDMA and *3001 it)

I personly love the easy to read netmonitor of my 6340i but i have a growing feeling nokia will lanch one more GAIT before its all said and done
