I have a question regarding the upload service offered by SprintPCS. I decided to discontinue the insane 15 a month for vision since the only thing i use it for is to upload pictures from my camera to sprints picture mail database.

Is there anyway i can bypass the whole uploading using the net service to get them off the camera. I bought the link cable for the PC basically is there a program that extracts the pictures from the camera directly to the pc soo i dont have to upload them at all to the net.

Thanks,

At this time the 5300 is not one of the phones that supports direct cable uploading of pics.. .I hope that will change, but snapmedia doesnt support it for the 5300 yet... so, if you want pics you pretty much are stuck using the picture pack ($15) from Sprint.

I talked with Snapmedia techs and they said the 5300 lacks the hardware to send the data over the USB connection. He couldn't tell me specifically what the difference was between it and the 8100 so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I tricked the SnapMedia software into thinking I had an 8100 hooked up and pressed the button to transfer pics from phone to PC. The software went through the motions ("transfering files...") but nothing showed up in the target folder.

It's the same true USB cable that you can get elsewhere. And no matter what the cable can do, the 5300 can't access the camera over USB (as I understand it) so it will never be able to get pictures out of the camera except by uploading them via Vision.
