Got my GX-22 also :) SWEEET!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Alright it's been said TONS of times but ... SWEET SCREEN!!!

Oh, and I input the Rogers AT&T settings on my GX-22 and the browser is working perfectly, it is NOT locked.

Not sure about MMS yet, I don't know those settings, anyone have them for Rogers?

As someone else mentionned before, beyond.mobilew.com has a few games for the GX-20/22, that's the only place I could find so far.

Lets start building up a forum for this phone

anyone have high quality wall-paper sites? Games? Is there a link to the handset manager software that came with the Gx-20? My GX-22 , while coming in a truly gorgeous box, did not have the software for some reason.

And last point: I got the SmarTone version and on the box itself, it says "262K" colour screen as one of the product highlights .. it's not written in with a pen, it's a logo on the box. Looks like the had this box custom made for them then.

found link to handset manager + drivers:

Congrats on the new fone

I am still blown away by the screen... when my co-workers or customers see it they are also blown away by it.

Rogers AT&T does not support MMS right now but there is picture messaging available. I did send you the settings.

As for wallpapers... I am not sure about any sites. What I did was just use wallpapers from my other fones and resized them to: 240 x 320 (I used photoshop but you can use the handset manager program to resize pics from what I have heard)

congrats on your phone and thanks for re-assuring us about screen colors and the unlock situation (i'm seriously considering this phone)

Posted by: Crippen

I'm not sure if anyone else is having IRDA problems but I solved mine in particular -- I am using a MA-620 from Mobile action and finally found this on their website:
http://www.matweb-01.com/English/dls-ir.htm#dr

Basically, the speed has to be set down to 57.6kbps max instead of the default 115kbps.

WOO HOOO!!!

Posted by: tk_chan

man~ I am so envy you now~ can't wait to get mine...

Posted by: Crippen

My pleasure! Hope you guys do end up getting it, I feel you won't be disappointed

Feel free to ask questions, I'll answer as best as I can.

Attached is a rather blurry side pic of the box, where you can see this strange claim of 262K colours , anyhow you get the idea

Posted by: rip

is that pic from the phone...man you got shakey hands...go take a drink...LOL ....J/K

Ya well, i won't be quitting my day-job anytime soon

It was taken in dark conditions without a flash, so I gather it needed a steadier hand

Posted by: rip

wow...that's pretty good for that type of lighting..i'll wait just a little longer...i like the PPC OS and just want to see the other devices to be released first...XDA II and V600...i really want "external" storage and BT

Posted by: Totoro

Smartone probably did make a mistake about the 262k logo
That "was" supposed to be meaning 262k color screen, but in fact, GX-22 doesn't have 262k color screen!!!
I am really disappointed, since 262k color screen was one of the reason I consider GX-22. Now I don't know what to buy

Posted by: tk_chan

no matter GX-22 has 260K color screen or not, it still kicks ***~!

Posted by: Totoro

I have never seen one with my eyes, don't know how kick *** it is
I want to ask opinions of some GX-22 users
Does it really worth $4380 HK?
I mean with the features it has, battery life, user friendly, etc... everything, does it worth that much?
Or only the CGS screen worth everything?

I've been waiting forever for the darned V600 also .. With it's quad-band capabilities i know the RF will be fantastic (my T720 is stellar in dead-zones). Only thing is now, after having experienced the GX-22 screen, the V600's is sure to be a letdown ...

I think I am picking it up regardless just for comparison's sake

What makes you think the GX-22 doesn't have a 262K screen?

It's box says it does, while the vodaphone box shows 65K screen. So, if SmarTone went to the trouble of making their own boxes (and some custom SmarTone settings which we can't erase) -- why is it a far stretch to believe they've software-enhanced the display to 262K ? They went to the trouble of differentiating their box from the one that says "65K" for no reason?

You may be right afterall that it IS INDEED just 65K -- i'm just trying to look at possible reasons/explanations why it would be otherwise.

Is it worth the money? Well, I guess that's a relative and personal decision, right? *I* personally think it was worth it -- then again, I am a phone lover and paid top dollar to have it NOW -- wait even just a month and the price will drop.

The screen is gorgeous, the camera is the best one availible SO FAR (but the other handsets coming out should match it) , the menu is very user-friendly. The other features are just average though, but the RF and outgoing/incoming voice quality are quite good.

I don't regret the purchase. I can't speak for anyone else though.

I am not positive, but i do believe that the GX-22 cannot receive from other phons. Do you have software for your T610? If so, it'd be better to transfer it back to PC, and from PC send it to your GX-22 ... tedious, but i don't see any other way ...

Posted by: Milkboy103

Congrats that you got a best phone man, hope you enjor it.

Posted by: Sl300

i did what u did and change the settings but it still wont work

im using this

and it always says trying to connect

Posted by: Mr Mephisto

You have to run the IR-Link application on the phone and then place it near the IrDA port on your PC.

The IR-Link application can be found under the Applications menu on the phone.

Mr Mephisto

*sigh* dude, you're obviously not looking very hard sure, our phone is different but it'd take you all of 5 minutes to explore the menus and find it

From the MENU button, go to the upper-right icon, it's called ORGANISER on the GX-22. There, you'll see "PC-Link" .. and in there, choose Infra-red.

Voila.

Posted by: ducvader

Freaking lazy a.s.s.e.s! Read the manual that came with the phone and spend some time looking through your phones Menu system. I'll make it easy for you.....press menu 3,6, then 2. BAKA!

Posted by: Sl300

i tried that before, it still does not work, and yes i did read my manual

Posted by: Sl300

i read the manual over and over again, i never had a problem w/ my idra before.. i dont know what im doing wrong

Never tried, but I assume it's maybe because the phone only supports 16 polys. MMFs sound pretty good though.

there's no way my old gd 88 can compare with my new GX22 ~~~

Hi, I'm in Singapore and really ENVY you guys who have the GX22!!! I am contemplating getting one when I am in HK this Dec but am not sure if it works with the local network here. How do I check if the phone works? Just by inserting my sim card? Anyone knows how to unlock the phone for use with a different network?

i wanted to know how was your screen when you take pics
because a friend of mine has a sample and is unbelievable : no lagg at all instead of mine which lagg and make the pics blurry and i move a bit

let me know for yours

Mine lags also, so does my friend's. I doubt your friend has a different one, it's how the camera is made, you can't swing around fast.

Posted by: bre

yeah i know my friend has a different one

HE HAS A SAMPLE

so what i don"t understand is why a sample works perfectly without lags and they product finally it with lags it's a pity

Your friend TOLD you this or you SAW it with your own eyes?
How odd that a sample has better software in it than every single production camera .. dubious.

Posted by: Confused69u

mine lags a bit, especially in the dark

Posted by: bre

no i didn't see it with my eyes, but i trust him ,he is working at SFR,a french phone provider and has offently phones before they come out,i'm ok with you on the fact that it is strange that a sample would have a better software !!

it is the only problem of this phone, the screen a bit blurry while moving

other question : i'm really looking for many games for it
do you have a free wap site from some?
especially for PACMAN called MOBMAN i think

thanks

Posted by: bre

me again
i have just bought mobman from one of the wap site given on an other topic

my browser say in frenc "download successful"
but i can"t find the game in my game folder,is there something else to do?

Posted by: Confused69u

yeah.. i saw that and a couple other cool 3d pics .. they supposedly animated too.. i can't find a link to them.. i think they are java screensavers made for the gx22/20.. i saw them on another asian site..

they would be cool to get...

about the lag... i find it all depends on the lighting.. i have very little lag during the daylight or when there is a bright light source.. but when it is in a darker environment, it starts to lag...

i guess it's trying to focus/adjust the light level. we don't have a setting for different lighting, but i noticed it will automaticlly try to compensate in low light.. i think this is what is causeing the lag.

also, has anyone noticed there is less lag in video mode then in camera?

confused... nice turtle.. you know they bring good luck

small, it flashes up on the external screen if you have setup a thumbnail

Posted by: bre

you are telling me it is in my phone but only for external display? i search all around and didn't find it

Posted by: Meercat

its not too hard although you do have to do it right.

go to the address book, select a user [its not under the first "options" which is what i did first], once their details are up choose this "options", you will have an option that says "thumbnail" [also where you set the ringtone if you want], just pick your image and you will see their ugly mug next time they ring

Posted by: bre

oh we misunderstood i think
i though you was telling me this animated wallpaper was available in thumbnails
i know how to show the face of my friend when they call.......what i want is this incredible wallpaper/screensaver

Posted by: t_yosuke817

im just wondering how many sms can the gx22 store in its fone memory...?? can anyone answer this q for me?? it would be gr8 thnx!

Posted by: Jax826

how big is the pic?
caller ID Pic i mean

Posted by: gsm1

Does anyone know what the "Reply Path" in the SMS Settings menu actually does, if anything? You have to enter your phone pin number to change it, but can't figure out what it does and there is nothing in the manual about it that I can find.

Posted by: basic black

Where are you guys getting the GX-2x? Looks like a great phone.

Posted by: LeoAndrade

I got mine on Ebay (www.ebay.com).
