Problems with my Ear Piece

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a Motorola ear piece that I had been using since May, and as of late people have not been able to hear me while I'm on it but I can hear them clearly. Could it be time for a new ear piece or could I have possibly changed something on the phone? Thanks in advance!

Did you maybe mute your phone?

##889 save phone#, make sure TTY accessibility is off. Could also be a short in the headset wire or the jack of the phone itself.

Oh I can use it fine when my ear piece is not in the jack so the phone isn't on mute...can you please explain to me the ##889 and TTY stuff?

TTY is text telephone for the deaf. On a compatible phone one would plug a mobile tty into the headset jack. For the phone to transmit tty tones(like a modem sounds kind of)correctly it has to change the frequency range the jack is capable of.

This will cause problems with normal speech. Also most phones hold a seperate set up for the headset mode and normal use. Plug in your headset, make a call and then check the mute is off, not when the headset is unplugged.

I have a Supper Wal-Mart in my city. They sell cheap little head sets for $1.99. Nothing fancy but it is a cheap handset test.
