hey i was wondering something...whenever i'm on the phone (8100) the backlight stays on during the entire converstation, even if the conversation is for 10 minutes. Anyone know how to change this? I can't seem to figure it out, or if my phone is defective....

Settings - Display - Backlight - Main LCD...(select your perfered interval)

I suspect the 8100 is the same or I'd pull out the manual and check.

it seems to stay half lit all the time when in conversation.

Well i checked the settings and the display settings but no dice, it does seem to stay half lit during conversations, which to me, is quite stupid as it would just drain the battery more....

True this is not the kindest thing for the battery, but this is normal behavior(staying half lit during a call).

My understanding is that it's because of the type of LCD panel they are using. Without some form of backlight, the screen would simply be black and you wouldn't be able to check signal strengths, time in call, etc with the screen being black.
