I think I'm getting somwhere with this taking off the nextel off the main LCD screen,(you know where your wallpapers go).
Now I was wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if you have any suggestions, or any help would be well helpful.

Greater minds than yours (no offense) have tried and failed. The general consensus is that the banner is placed there (more or less) by the tower signal.

Then again, you might have travelled a road no one else ever considered...

Care to share your thoughts/progress?

On T-Mobile, it was controlled via tower, hence the change in name on the banner to the local network when you were roaming...

okay how about not taking it off but at least changing the letters, like putting whatever you want..
