sl56 lemon?

Hi there, I just got one of these from AT&T and have had it a total of 2 days now with only a measly 14 min of use (talk). Now, I am new to GSM as I am coming off of Sprint and an old 'crapped my pants' size of a cell phone but so far in the last 2 days I;

Have had the battery drain and needed a recharge.
Have had the phone shut off one me at least 5 times (usually on open or close)
Hear an annoying echo of myself.
Hardly hold a call and have to repeat myself to the listener (and no, that is not the echo that I hear ).

So, these may just be typical problems with these teeny phones?
Something typical with this type of network (In the Minneapolis metro)? Anyone else have these problems with theirs? Or sis I just get a bum phone?

Thanks

Sorry to hear you're having problems with your new fone. Seems like you got a bum fone. I would take it back to the AT&T that you purchased it for and do an exchange.

Well, the first one was a SL56 and it was too disabled by Cingular for me, for the next one I wanted a Rubin colored SL55 so I got one but found out after it was a SL5C which is the Asian spec one and it has different f/w so you can't self upgrade with European generic f/w, the third was a Titan color one which was perfect and I got it at a good price but I really wanted the Rubin color so I found the fourth, a brand new European spec Rubin one which I love.

You wanted to know. LOL.

This is sad. I'm on my 3rd SL56 because I'm either getting spontaneous "popping" noise or the mic is not picking up my voice, or etc. etc. etc. The only thing AT&T Wireless says to me regardless of what kind of problem I have is "we'll swap it with another one." And then from there, my invoice looks like a friggin nightmare when I get it in the mail. That's another story. AT&T Wireless has been notorious for putting defective phones on the shelves. It's just really bad because of every phone I've bought through AT&T, I've had to get it swapped at least 2 or 3 times because "it was defective" according to them. That means, I usually have a 1 out of 4 chance of getting a non-defective phone. The SL56 I have now seems to be alright so far. I still get mysterious shutdowns, I dunno, it has to be something with either Siemens or AT&T Wireless

It almost has to be ATT wireless, this is the fourth or fifth complaint in just the last week and they've all been ATTWS customers....

Rub the battery connections and it should work?

Mine shut off 15 times in a period 2 hrs <~ THAT was annoying
But I think it should be all good. Did u return it? did u find out if it was a battery Problem? or if it was SL56 defect?
