Hello, I was browsing through eBay today looking for another data cable for my SCP-5300 because I lost mine on a trip, at any rate I found this listing for a "charging usb data cable", where obviously the cable would charge the phone as you use it to browse the web, so that essentially, your battery never goes dead.
My questions is this: does anyone know if it's safe to use such cables, and how come neither sanyo or sprint came up with a cable like that? One of the major flaws on the 5300 is obviously the fact that the data/charge port are one and the same.
I've never heard of a usb charging data cable, and I guess I am a bit skeptical to buy it, but it would solve so many of my problems when I'm studying at Starbucks or whatever.
Any thoughts, comments is appreciated.

They work fine. I bought one of the old style cables from Radio Shack (before they removed the tabs inside the connector), and modified it to charge myself.
