(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

*3001#12345# > NAM 1 >PSID/RSID LISTS > P/RSID 1 > ALPHA TAG > EDIT THE ALPHA TAG > OK the alpha tag you just entered > Turn off your phone and turn it back on... the alpha tag should pop up in a couple of seconds.

you might also want to change the SOC value, and country code for better results. I've tried without, with mixed results!

Is the banner on your home screen.

Says things like "Home", "Roaming", "Rogers AT&T". etc.

Yeah, I figured that out. I know how to change it on 99% of the Nokia's. I just need the correct PSID code, Connected System ID code, and the Country Code. I'm on Cingular Wireless with a 410-920 number. Thank you.

I did to get teh SHARED banner off my 3360, now I have AT&T in its place.

I've seen this done on alot of GSM phones, never actually seen it done on TDMA. Still working on my 8265, and my friends 3360. From what I was told at service training, the phone is locked into that banner, and either way, I know AT&T and Cingular both put their banner up with OAP (over-the-air provisioning), so I think even if you got it changed, it would switch back. I saw a 5170 witht his done, but its not TDMA...so........ Any other guesses?

Don't confuse alpha tags with operator logos.
GSM doen't have alpha tags.

I'm quite well aware, I was just making a point that I've never seen an Alpha Tag changed successfully. Operator Logos I have. Thank you for pointing out the difference.

Change Alpha Tag

The alpha tag is the message that is displayed on your phone when in digital coverage. This is normally transmitted by the network, but can be overidden to display a different tag. This is done by creating a tag for a personal/residential zone in the phone, and setting this zone to have the same settings as your normal carrier. So when the phone identifies the network system it believes it is in the personal/residential zone and displays the tag you have programmed.

1) Enter programming mode of the phone by keying *3001#12345#

2) Find out the ID of your operator by entering the NAM1 menu. Note the Home System ID setting. (16387 on Rogers AT&T in Calgary)

3) Scroll to and enter PSID/RSID lists (menu 7)

4) Select P/RSID 1

5) Scroll to PSID/RSID and change the setting to 1

6) Scroll to Connected system ID and change the setting to the ID of your system (eg 16387)

7) Scroll to Alpha Tag and enter the message you would like displayed.

8) Scroll to Operator code (SOC) and enter coed for your provider such as 2050 for Rogers or 2049 for AT&T

9) Scroll to Country code and enter 302 for Rogers or 310 for AT&T

10) Power cycle your phone and hopefully your message will be displayed

Note: This works on my 3360 & 8260 that I use in Toronto on the Rogers network. I also noticed that the alpha tag only shows on the phone when I am in the digital zone. If I goto analog, the alpha tag reverts back to the Rogers AT&T, or HOME.

didnt work

A while back i learned how to do this and I set my old 3360 (now my mom's phone) to say AT&T Wireless because I waned to look "cool" like the ppl with a GSM phone. OK, Ichanged it to that, then now that we changed numbers on the phone, I am unable to either change it back or even change it at all! lol. It set the defaults back to the original values but kept the AT&T Wireless alpha tag on it.

This has sure been a very strange experience for me...lol
