On my second SL56! More defective AT&T Equipment!

Dammit, this happens everytime a new toy is available for AT&T Wireless. I only had my Siemens SL56 for 2 weeks, and I get god awful crackeling sounds in the earpiece and I need to have the phone redial a number 2 or 3 times where I had none of these problems with my S56. Again, the AT&T Wireless customer care stated that this is a defective phone and it needs to be swapped. If this were the case, then EVERY phone I've gotten through AT&T Wireless has been defective to the point where I have had to get it swapped (whatever GSM phone I had at the time) 2 or 3 times! Anyone having similar problems with their SL56? Lemme know!

My CINGULAR SL56 works great, excellent sound quality/reception and none of the noises or connection troubles you mentioned.

You have a bad unit for sure.......

Mine did it a few times last week. Actually it pretty much freaked out. I got the crackeling sound on about 50% of the calls I made one day, and I couldn't get into my voicemail. I thought it had to do more with the network (Cingular) than the phone. Also it was having major problems finding service in places that I normally have no problem. All this coincided with a day that I let the battery run really low, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Do I have a bum phone? I figured it was just one of those Cingular f-ups that I've learned to live with. Should I try and exchange it?

In response to HF_ElGuapo, I am now on my third SL56 and I was about to say "F--- IT!" with Siemens. I finally got an SL56 that performs superbly and the crackeling is gone. I'm not quite sure if this is on Siemens necessarily, EVERY phone I've tried via ATTWS, I've had to swap with a replacement one at least once. The crackeling sound is something I've heard common in regards to my job since I have 3 co-workers who have the same phone and 1 of them complain about crackeling too.
