Just thought I'd add a little tid bit on how I protected my SL55's screen and that shiney silver strip on the back from scratches.
I was complaining to my 10 year old sister about scratches on my MD Player's screens, she then suggested I cut up a sheet of my PDA screen protector and protect it that way...so I did...and then I did it for my cell phones too
haha.
All you have to do is get a piece of paper. Cut it to the size/shape of the surface you want to protect. Trace your new stencil onto the back of a PDA screen protector sheet. Cut. Peel. Stick. Voila.
There is not a single scratch on my SL55's screen.
This is nice because I tend to mindlessly stick my SL55 in my pocket with keys and change.
Anyways...my new SL55 screen protector is un-noticeable, and easily replaceable once the scratches get all ugly.
Ohh and when I was making it... the only problem I came upon was the speaker holes. The first time I made it, I cut out the holes which were really difficult and once it was cut, lining it up on the phone was TEDIOUS. So on the second one that I made, I didn't cut out the holes for it. It saved me a headache and looks perfectly fine on the phone. Sounds fine too. And a bonus is it prevents lint and debris from getting in to the speaker.
PDA screen protectors are available at any store that cells PDA accessories. I got my pack of 12 made by iConcepts for about 12 dollars canadian from London Drugs.
If you try this.... remember to go slowly. Lay it down a little bit at a time to smooth out air bubbles and don't touch the sticky part with your grubby fingers
. If you accidentally go some air bubbles or dust in there. Use a small strip of scotch tape instead of your hands to remove it.
Yikes...long msg..well i'm off. Good luck to any one who tries.
