Will T-mobile carry the Siemens SL56???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I saw this phone at a Cingular store....WOW, it's crazy small & trick lookin'!

I called a T-mobile store & they were not sure if they will carry this phone. Just wondering if any of you may have the inside skinny if T-mobile will carry this.

I know I can prolly pick one up on Ebay, an unlocked version. Just thought maybe I can renew my contract & get the phone for a good price, better than on Ebay.

Anyone????

Those stores are not T-Mobile corporate stores they are indirect dealers or Chinatown stores where they activate unlocked phones with a plan for a discount.....T-Mobile Corporate Stores will not carry this phone.

T-Mobile carries the Tri-band "Ruby" version. I was at the shop (authorized dealer) the other day in Houston. It goes for around $200 though with new service, but $500 if you buy it for existing service

I like the ruby version b/c it stands out more but ATT and Cingular only carries the Titan version, supposedly targeted for the business look. The ruby version for ATT and Cingular will be released around Xmas time. Guess that's when my insurance comes in handy, hehe.

An authorized dealer is not corporate..corporate does not and will not carry this phone...T-mobile will not provide warranty service for it -- you will have to go through Siemens. Authorized agents are the same as indirect dealers, i.e. not bound by the strictures of corporate decisions with regards to equipment offerings.

i live in houston too(sugar land), i have the siemens sl56 titan, and i cant find anybody that has the ruby.

Check ebay, they have full housing in ruby & titan for the SL56. I'm thinking about it, to change to the ruby........

I think I'll wait till the local cell kiosk sells the housings, they can then install for me.

I purchased an Sl55 on ebay and have been using it with T-mobile for a couple of months. What sucks is when I call T-mo tech support. I've been trying to configure my mms but no one there can give me the correct settings. I also have a pain in the *** time with warranty issues. I dropped the phone and one of the soft keys stopped working. Siemens in the US wouldn't service the phone because the sl55 was never released in the US. I had to send it to cell repair shop and it cost me $80. Siemens does support the sl56 though. I guess its my fault though not waiting for the sl56 to come out in the US.
Even with these hassels I still love the phone. I also have the attachable camera for it. The pictures don't look so great on the screen. There not to bad for only being a 4k color screen. But when you do transfer them to a computer they look great. A lot better then most of the other camera phones I have tried.

I have a question for anyone who's using Siemens sl56 with T-mobile...because i just got one not to long ago unlocked and haven't recieved it yet, but one of my friends is saying that if it manufactured for AT&T or Singular (which are more likely) it will look for their towers first, and only then for T-mobile tower. and that will be reflected on my bill as roaming charges... anyone knows about it?

Posted by: BOHIC

Your friend is wrong. If you put a Tmo SIM in there, it is gonna act like any other Tmo phone.

Posted by: Ghostrider

BOHIC, I thought that was the case. I didn't know how to answer m555david.

I remember over the summer, we went to Chicago. I used my cell phone w/ T-mobile all that time. My bill did not show any long distance or roaming. Just the normal amount I pay monthly. I have the nationwide 1000 min plan. When T-mobile came out West last year.

Now my wife, she has Cingular family plan. Since it's not nationwide, she got dinged hugely for long distance & roaming. Her plan is only CA/NV. I didn't remember what plan she had when I signed her up. Yeah, she was a bit p!ssed at me........actually, REALLY P!SSED!!!

if i get one of these, will i be able to use it on iowa wireless (t mobile affiliate). could i just put in my IW sim card in it and it should work, right?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Posted by: BOHIC

Yes, an unlocked SL56 should work on any GSM carrier that uses 1900/850. That includes anybody in the US.

Posted by: T-Styles

even if i have a prepaid plan? how do i know if Iowa Wireless is a
GSM carrier that uses 1900/850?

Posted by: BOHIC

Every gsm provider in the US uses 1900 and Cingular and ATT use 850 as well. Your phone shouldn't care that you have prepaid.

Posted by: T-Styles

how do i know if my carrier is gsm?

Posted by: FiReBReTHa

call them and ask....... or post who you have.
