Hey,
I want to format this phone before I sell it,
but it asks me for a phone code... I have no idea what this is,
I dont ever remember setting one up. Is there a default code,
I have tried the obvious ones, last 4 digits of phone #, 9999 etc, and it says 2 tries left... So I am afraid to try any more
can ANYONE help me?
thank you
Brandon

The default is usually 0000.

On SL56 there is no default. The first time you need the phone code it prompts you to make one. Don't know if S56 is the same way or not. You might try checking the instruction manual. Those are helpful every once in a while.

I read through the whole manual, and while it says that there is a password it doesnt say anything about creating one or what the default would be. Just when you need to punch it in for various reasons.
And 0000 doesnt work.
there was one on the phone as far as I know when I bought it.
Hrmm

I just checked an S56 manual and it said that you define the phone code for the S56 in the same way. No default. I don't know if the S55 is different or what. Guess you should probably just call up Siemens.

I think that the phone code is the same as a PIN1 code... My S55 was bought new and already had a default code. I cant tell for sure but it was either 1111 or 1234. (I AM NOT SURE)

PIN1 is a code for your SIM. Those do come with defaults, probably determined by the manufacturer of the SIM or your service provider (not sure which). This is different than the phone lock code.

P.S. I meant that default codes for a phone lock and PIN1 are most likely the same.

I never heard of a default phone lock code on Siemens, and I sell a lot of them

usually, as stated before, you create your own one the first time you use it. Granted I don't quite remember mine... but oh well !

There is no default security code on the S56. You set it up when you want it. Also, every time that I have entered an invalid phone lock code, I have never gotten an "two attempts remaining" message, I only get invalid entry. I only get that message when I enter the wrong pin code. That leads me to believe that you need the pin code and not the phonecode.

If you are having problems, I would call your provider and get the PUK code. It will work as a master reset for your pin codes.

Probably not... When you buy a new phone, and if you have your pin code activated on the sim, when you put it into the new phone it will automatically ask you for the pin code.

The security code is set(or in this case, not) by the manufacturer of the device from the assembly line. With nokias, the default is usually 12345. Siemens in my experience have not had a default code, you set it once you get it.
