i always was wondering if this is possible....

8260 ---> 8860 conversion......

if some one has done this please post, i'm also willing to try if no one post within the upcoming weeks... i'm just going to do it. and risk both phones... i luv insurance hehe

I'm fairly sure it's possible, but I think you lose the active slide if you do it or something. Just was reading up slightly about it...sorry I couldn't tell you anymore. If it's a for sure thing I might go for it. I kinda miss the downloadable ringtones / group graphics, plus the capability of sending text messages yourself. There's a guy around here that supposedly knows how to enable the 2-way messaging on the 8860, but he hasn't responded to my email yet.

yupyup, u for sure can convert the 8260 to 8860... but u do lose the active slide feature, i searched it up once and found a site where a guy showed it step by step how to do it.

actually, i've tried, but it was not very sucessful, because on the 8860 slide, there is a mic inside, and, fitting the mic inside was very challenging, and after i finished inserting it, it did not work properly, end up changing it back to the 8260

I have done this mod for myself, and someone on this board. The things you have to watch out for is installing the slider pin switch, and modifying the battery (the chrome bmp-1a will no longer charge)
