having a BT receiver on hurts both batteries considerably. I recommend turning off both receivers unless they are in constant use or connected to charger. I recommend turning both off @ night.

How exactly did you set up the palm and phone so that you could surf? I too have a SE T616 and a T3. I also have Cingular serivce, however, I don't have access to GPRS. I configured the Palm in the Phone Link app to use non-GPRS, put in the phone number and user info, and tried to connect. When I do that, the "connecting" box comes up on my phone, but almost instantly disappears. The palm eventually gives up and gives me a "no carrier" error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ditto, except that I have AT&T Wireless and GPRS. I still need to get T616-specific drivers/configurations for the T3. Have managed to get a fair amount of T3-->T616 functionality by telling the T3 to use "Standard GSM Phone" instead of T616, but it tells me that I really have other features available that require specific drivers. Unfortunately, the Palm website doesn't seem to have any for the T616.

fzwhittington,

There is no T616 driver for T3 but you could use SE T610 driver instead. You could find the update driver in the following URL:

http://www.palmone.com/us/support/d.../phonelink.html

I am using T3 with my T616 (Cingular service) so I do not know the exact settings for AT&T CSD/GPRS. Brothers here in HowardForum should be able to help you on that. Rights, gentlemen?

You better check if T-Mobile supports CSD still. I know that all the Canadian operators stopped supporting CSD.

Did all that, doesn't work The setup using Standard GSM at least connects. I've still got a lot to figure out on this stuff, though. Need to hammer at it for a few more days...Thanks for the info. Maybe the 610 drivers will work if I get all the pieces together correctly. Maybe Palm will come out with a T616 package...

I have a T2 and just purchased the SE T616. I can pair the two via bluetooth but cannot seem to configure the T2 to get the phone to connect to the internet to send/receive mail etc. When configuring the T2 in Prefs/Network I am asked to give a telephone number. Is this my number? i tried this and the phone tries to dial iteslf. I assume that there is a # that I must put to have the T2 command the SE T616 to dial. What number is this? Otherwise, how does one connect?

I suspect that this nmber may depend on your service provider. With AT&T Wireless I use "atdt*99#" as the number, and it works. I also have a T3 instead of a T2, but I doubt that makes any difference.
I would test using the browser (WebPro) first. Email has a whole bunch of other things to trip over.

I also have a Tungsten T3, a SE T616, and cingular. I subscribe to wireless express from cingular, and while I am able to get internet on the phone, when i try using web pro on my T3, I get a message saying

"no DNS Servers were specified. Please check that your Netword settings are correct, and try again [Comm.9]"

Have I set up the phone the wrong way?

The phone is able to surf, but not the t3. what's up?

thanks to anyone wiling to help!!

Same issue here. I can create and send SMS on my T2 but cannot use either Webpro or Versamail.

can somebody please help us!!?

What do you guys need to know exactly (if help is still needed) ? I got a new T2 today (for $99 shipped LOL) and have gotten it to work with a SE T68i and a Nokia 3650 to surf the web via T-mobile GPRS.

When I run Web Pro I appear to have an "established" connection and then get the message:
"No DNS Servers were specified. Please check that your Network settings are correct, and try again. [Comm.9]" I use Cingular and under Network I tell Webpro to connect using Cingular GPRS.

I have used settings that got fromCingular under prefs/network. These are:

Service: Cingular GPRS
User Name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
The IP address is 66.209.11.61

I ask DNS to be queried and do not specify as I was not given numbers.

When I use VersaMail I again am able to "establish" a connection. Versamail then tells me "unable to resolve name pop.mail.yahoo.com. Check your DNS settings or enter the IP address for your mail server." I will admit that I guessed when setting the address for Yahoo. Ialso created a hotmail account and met with an equal lack of success.

I am able to send SMS messages created on the T2 and sent on the SE t616 with no problem.

Thanks.

You can try the DNS addresses
fzwhittington gave, or else use:
66.209.10.201
66.209.10.202
as the DNS and Alt-DNS as it seems to work for some people.

pop.mail.yahoo.com is not a valid address. Yahoo and Hotmail don't provide pop3 for free (although you can install something on a PC to access them like a pop3) so if you want to use Versamail you will need a pop3 account.

Posted by: pedalboy

I am responding a month later...What if I configure Versamail to my cingular account? What info would I need to have? Also, I still cannot access the web w/ Webpro.

Any ideas out there?

Posted by: karibOS

you would need your username, password and both an incoming, POP, and outgoing, SMTP, address.

I have T2, and 1 SE T616 carrier is ATT wireless . I could was not able to surf the Net. This is what I did: I went to palm.com I doownload driver SE T610 to my hard drive then I install it in mt T2 with the Quick Install Tool ( T616 driver is not avalaible yet, but it works) I reset my T2 pressing on/off button and reset botton at the same time. I went to Phone link , I set up Phone conection , it will guide you thru netwok service too. All you will be ask is carrier name, all settings al set up. Please reply if you all need more details.

p.s. Do not install the new phone link driver from palm, it doe s not work.
