Although I am in my home system, I have the ROAM icon on. I have gone through all the settings within the phone but cannot turn it off.

I have contacted my carrier (T-Mobile) but they have no clue. They don't know anything about the smartphones, especially the 8380.

HELP !!!

It really depend where you are. Recently, T-mobile update/upgrade thier system in NJ. With an older SIM (voicestream). I am roaming in NJ. There is nothing wrong with your phone. I would expect it will go away if you replace a new SIM from T-mobile.

Thanks 7190.

This was the only thing I did not try.....My card does date back to Voicestream. May actually go back to Omnipoint !!

I'll buy a new SIM card.

other than the roaming icon (which I have also) is there any other advantage in getting a new sim?

thanks

OK, good news !!

Went to TMobile and bought a new SIM card.

Problem gone, no more ROAM Icon.

Not much different voicestream and T-mobile sim.
but slight different with Omnipoint.

both T-mobile and voicestream have more internal memory which mean you can save more phone number onto your sim.

If roaming icon do not bother you too much,
I do not see the point to pay $30+ to get rid of the roaming icon.

Especially, if you are on nation wide voice plans. You would get charge for roaming anyway.
