Can a CT56 be upgraded with generic Firmware from Siemens website?

In other words, can I upgrade it with C55 firmware? Also can They be remote unlocked?
I picked up a CT56 cheap as a backup/second phone. I been useing it since yesterday and it very good RF, can't really judge battery life cause I've been playing with it alot. I'm allways messing with my phones, and would really like to be able to record my on wav. files for ringers, and I read in one post that getting it unlocked restores the features Cingular disabled.
