Are any SL56 owners experiencing an earpiece whine when the backlight is turned on?

Just got my SL 56 today from AT&T and I'm experiencing the following problem:

There's a slightly audible high-pitched whine in the earpiece during calls when the backlight illumination turns on (just after a call is made or answered). When the backlight illumination turns off after a few seconds, the whine disappears. Apparently, the backlight appears to be causing some sort of interference with the earpiece, causing the whine. Are any other SL 56 users experiencing the same problem? If it's characteristic of the design I won't bother returning it, otherwise I'll exchange it for another.

Thanks.

Yes indeed, I do hear that same wierd distortion sound when I first answer the phone and the backlight is on momentarily. After that, the sound disappears. I really don't notice it much unless I'm in a really quiet room however. The phone makes wierd sounds every now and then, but then again, that's true for almost every GSM phone I've tried so far here in the U.S. Bottom line, this phone is the most satisfactory GSM phone I've had yet.

I think it may be something to do with the interaction of the ATT GSM network with the SL56, I run one on Cingular and have none of the problems (crackling, whining etc.) which ATT users have been bringing up. The only time the speaker makes any noise is when I'm using it.

In any case I'd exchange it and hope to get a good one.....
