Hi, I just got a S40 and the battery life really sucks. I bought it in the US but I think it's from HK, atleast that's what th guy told me. the battery bar goes down to two bars only overnight. I thought it's supposed to last a few days. I tried swictching to another battery but it lasts the same crappy amount. Anyone know why? because if I forget to recharge it one day I'm going to have a dead phone. I'm using it in NYC.
thanks.

What's your firmware version? The latest firmware version 3.2 improves a lot on battery life. However, the overall signal in US is very weak so the battery won't last very last as what Siemen's advertise. H.L. mentions that he can use the phone longer in HK.

My firmware is below 2.09. Do you know if I can get it upgraded even though it's a HK phone bought in the US? Maybe it'll help then.

You can send it to Siemens US to get it upgraded. They accept anything.
No receipt? No problem! Shui for? Send it here, we will make it dry!

You can send the phone to US Siemens. They will take care of it even though you are not buying from them. If they ask you for the receipt, just tell them you receive it as a gift. They will ask you to write a letter to mention that you receive it as a gift. What you need to write is where/when do you buy/get the phone.

That sounds like a plan that'll work out. Hope it doen't take long. I can't live w/o my cell phone. Is the HK firmware and the US firmware the same? I'm going to HK in January, but I don't want to wait that long to get it upgraded unless it's better over there for some reason.

I live in LA. It takes me about 1 week (I used priority 3-4 days service) to send to US Siemens in Texas, but the phone sent back to me overnite once they receive the phone.
So I guess you better use UPS overnite shipping to send to US Siemens and then US Siemens will take the other day to send the phone back to you. I think using this method, it won't take longer than 3 days if you are lucky.
