Should I go raving? Or should I see the Supermodel?

Well, I've decided on Virgin Mobile. Now should I get the K7 Rave or the Super Model?

I would suggest the Rave. I personally have this phone, and I am very pleased with it. I have friends that have the Super Model (or the same phone with different service) and it feels cheap, (errr, inexpensive) and of course, the rave is smaller. Also, if you just care about the looks, the faceplates seem to be more widely available that the SM, both through Virgin and kyocera

Ditto..I had a 2135 and it felt El Cheapo. So Raving for me I guess, can anyone vouch on the quality of the rave?

Just another thing, can I use a data cable.use my computer as a modem, and get online through it (via my own dial-up connection?)

The Rave feels a lot heavier that the Supermodel, and is a lot less hollow feeling. My sister came home from school for the weekend and her phone (the Party Animal) feels really cheapish and light feeling. I think (i'm not sure) that the body part ( not the faceplate or the back part but the middle part is metal. And about the modem, I don't know if it does, but I wouldn't think so....

I have a Kyocera 2235 and its cousin, the 2255 (which Virgin markets as the 'Supermodel').

It's not a bad little phone; accessories are cheap and widely available. RF is good, although Kyocera under-reports the available signal (you can often get a call through just fine with zero bars of available service displayed). However, battery life is fairly poor. Of course, on a prepaid plan this may not matter much (I doubt you'll be using the phone heavily at 25 cents per minute), but I easily burn through a battery in under 2 hours. I actually carry a spare battery along with me, because if I use the phone a lot, I end up needing it.
