Sadly its wasnt a cop car but a NYC Taxi.
its has the 305 5.0 V8, the cop cars have the 350 5.8 V8 and the performace chip spawned from the devil him self.

Im think of taking out the 305 and puting in the 350, those 45 cubic inches would make a difference in HP. But im not sure becuase with the money i can put into upgrades, mods and repairs (body work and paint mostly), I can put it to a newer car.

Posted by: Aurora

Daaaaaaamn. Cops have 5.8 v8s!?

Take care.

The local BMW shop told me about SCDA last year. Unfortunately I ran into a group buy on the rollbar that ate up my helmet and track day budget at the end of last year. My goal for the car is to run at LimeRock. I love that track.

Yeah, I'm real jealous of that hunk of junk.

Posted by: 4churchill

1st of all I paid for the IS myself, so there is no need to get all butt hurt about it. second i didn't tell my dad to go to college for 8 years and become a surgeon, so why should i feel guilty if he wants to buy me a H2????

No, I don't follow hockey at all so I could care less if the Canucks won or lost.

This kid's attitude seems about typical of a lot of IS drivers under the age of 25. They're all convinced the world is jealous of their car. If they get pulled over, it's because the cop was jealous of his car. If their gf dumps them, she was jealous of the car. If a guy wants to fight him, it must be because he is jealous of the car....

Few of them realize that in or out of the car, they may just be a$$holes.

Even fewer realize that the IS is a relativele cheap car. You can buy a new IS for less than most American full-sized pickups... and I'm certainly not jealous of Dodge Ram drivers.

A lot of them also seem to be confused with the 'bought it myself' concept. If you buy the thing with the allowance money you saved up, then Daddy bought it. Doesn't make a difference to me, I'd be all over that deal if my parents had the money. Of course, my head's not up my own *** so I would realize who really paid for it.

justin for president!!!

Posted by: Koofteh

I second that, I agree with his post.

I am not ashamed that my RSX was basically bought by my parents, even though I pay for it by working. I work for my parents and they pay me and I pay for the car that way, but I still don't brag that I bought it by myself.

My opinion is, anyone who buys the H2, buys it to show off and brag about it. Let's face it, that car ain't got performance, looks, quality or anything. The only thing it has is 'bling bling'.

hey now, bro im not like that @ all.... its just a car.. with alot of potential

most the enthusiasts i know arent like that.. all my fellow IS drivers are pretty humble, down to earth good natured folks.

Posted by: justin.b

It's not all... but there are a definitely a good number of them.

Go to IS300.net and start a thread about getting pulled over and that the cop was rude to you probably because he was jealous. I guarantee you'll get 5 people agreeing with you within an hour or two.

Sure, most will disagree.... but it's the delusional teens that worry me.

I dont think that i am a better or worse person for driving anything. i am confused why all of the sudden a group of peole are jumping on my back, since i have in no way instigated anything wiht anyone.

Here's what I drive:
Primary:
2002 GMC Sierra 2500 Ext. Cab 4x4
Summit White with black interior.
Loaded, 600W Amp added, XM added,
Infinity Perfect 6.5" components added,
JL Audio 12W6 added, 20% Window Tint
(all around).

Secondary*:
2001 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext. Cab Z71
Dark Toreador Red with black interior.
Loaded, Stock.

The primary vehicle I love, but I'm going to be getting rid of it. It has low mileage, perfect paint, and is kept spotless, but I need something more efficient as a primary automobile. I test drove a GMC Canyon (which my former workplace -- I was in sales/service -- has not gotten in yet) which was a "Property of GM" vehicle. These things are supposed to be hitting most lots towards the end of December, and mainstreaming in January. I have to say that I liked what I drove. The seats were comfortable, the interior was roomy (crew cab), the handling was great (and it was raining, too), the traction was great, the power was excellent -- much more acceleration than the previous Vortec 4300 4.3L V6 -- this is the Vortec 3500 3.5L I5. And the turn signals... The relay is on the correct side of the dashboard; it also now makes a "Boing" type of sound instead of a "Tick-Tock." The new relay is pretty cool actually, different to say the least. I really love the Canyon (Colorado, the Chevrolet reflection).

*The 2001 is actually my parents'. They live a mere sixty miles away from me. Whenever I need to use a truck, they are more than willing to let me borrow theirs. They're too old to need to pull toys

I drive a 2002 Mazda Protege5 5 Speed, and i love it.

i just recommend that you get some snow tires for the slippery season.

but the car handles like a champ.

Posted by: bobguy

I have a 2002 Protege 5 as well. Just got it 2 weeks ago after my Acura EL got ripped off and stripped.
Lovin' the Mazda. Just needs a few things, like tints etc.

Posted by: justin.b

I love the styling of the Protege 5, and was in a rush to go test drive one as soon as they came out. It was quick around town to about 30-40mph, but was not really up to the task of highway passing. On the highway, it was considerably slower than the civic HX (both autos).

It handled well, but that's mainly a function of the sticky tires on a small car.

In the end, I had such a hard time from the sales guy who needled me down on the trade and would not budge from sticker that I just left. He was telling me how hard it was to find these cars and that they were flying out the door - while there were 20 of them on his lot and another 17 at a lot 10 miles away.

The sales guy was really a major a$$. He went on about how the Protege was #1 in its class on everything -that seemed to be his default answer. How's the resale value? It's number one in its class! (KBB and real life seemed to disagree with his claim).

In any case, we just kept the Civic and stuck some new wheels and sticky tires on it. I was hoping that they would come out with a Mazdaspeed version of the car with a low-boost turbo, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

So far so good! I'm enjoying it.

Posted by: Skylinepilot

Justin B.: I have to agree that the styling is pretty hot on the P5 and similarly on the Mazdaspeed Protege. It always makes my head turn when one passes by. I too am bothered with sales spiels and mission statements. I always want to reply, "So are you going to tell me when the car is #2,3 or 4 in some category or class? Of course you are going to keep saying you are #1 ." But I think that would kill any chance of the salesperson cooking up a good deal

kaka: Congrats on the TL. That is an awesome Luxury car. I think I would have tons of fun playing with all the gadgets it has

Thanks! But ssshhhhh!!! Don't tell anyone it's a luxury car. Here in BC people pay the government extra tax for luxury cars they buy. I wasn't taxed!

The 6-Channel DVD-Audio is superb! Now I just need to find a place to buy DVD-Audio disc.

I would have just taken the salesman as typical if I had not had such a good experience with a Nissan just a few weeks earlier. I had gone in to look at the (then new) Sentra SER SpecV and with trade and discount I could have had that car for $95/month for 48 months.

The Mazda dealer took the Civic and came back with a laundry list of problems with it. The car had 35k miles on it, and had been dealer maintained. Synthetic oil changes every 2500 miles and no abuse at all (my wife's car). They offered below cash value as a trade! Then they wouldn't take a dollar of the sticker price. I was not desperate for a car, but if we had been offered a great deal I would have taken it.

He asked me what it would take for me to buy 'today'. I said I'm not buying today no matter what you offer, but if you can come close to the offer on the Nissan, I'll probably be back Monday to take it.

In any case, if you're in the Boston area avoid IRA Mazda like genital warts. Kelly Honda was a pleasure to deal with (bought the Civic over the phone - beat my best price and didn't try to force anything we didn't want) and Kelly Nissan also treated me honestly. Actually, just avoid IRA completely.

That comes with a Bluetooth HFL also, right? On my new (bought used, thanks da_hool!) T39m, people I talked to didn't think I was driving until I told them.

I don't think I can still afford any modifications for a while. Just the base price of this damn car is already too high for me!

Post a picture Z-Brat ! Lets see that bad-boy 350Z

Which version did you get ? Any mods yet ?

At first I couldn't stand the 350z's looks, I missed the classic Z pointed-nose styling, but now it's starting to grow on me Kind of looks like a 240Z on steroids

Posted by: Z-Brat

Here she is THis is after a few coats of Zaino and Blackfire. Only mod is an Injen Intake, which I sold cause dealer was giving me problems with mods. I do have the clear lense thingies I put on when I first got it. Couldn't stand those orange ones. I will probably do more to it if I keep it.

Very nice! Is that the track model ?

And forget what the dealership says, go for some mods

I won't even let a Nissan dealer touch my 300ZX, most of their techs are clueless about Z-Cars. I did the 60k maintence myself, dealer wanted over $2,000, I was about to do it for a little over $200 in parts (timing belt, water pump, front seals, etc).

p.s. don't forget to get those windows tinted !

Maintenance on Z32's is through the roof when you have it done at the dealer. Is yours a turbo? I heard the dealers charge 16 hours of labor to change out the stock turbos when the oil seals start leaking and puffing blue smoke on startup. That adds up quick at their labor rates.

-Justin

Mines a '91 Stage V 2+2; almost the HP of a TT coupe, but without the turbo lag.

Personally I wouldn't trust a Nissan dealership to refill my washer fluid. I've had a couple of bad experiences, and have heard too many horror stories from fellow Z owners.

Then again, if I had a new 350Z still under warranty like Z-Brat, I'd be happy to let the dealer fix any problems for free. But you can bet I'd be watching those techs as closely as possible and triple-checking the car when I got it back.

Sure they don't! You just raced one with a bad driver behind the wheel! I easily did near 160 mph at the "open track day" at California Speedway's loop.

And of course your Mitsu might be modded nicely, but I'd rather drive my slower M3 than a modded Eclipse anyday.

I agree with you. When I first got my 93 240sx about 2 1/2 years ago, I had a new clutch put in, because it was kinda weak. I got my car back and after a few weeks my car started grinding in reverse, and the pervious owner ( who is a friend ) said that it had never happened to him.....

On the glim side, I did total the 240 about a month ago ( I cried when it happened ).... I'm broke, and guess what my parents are suppose to get me 1990 Civic hatchback, I haven't seen it yet, but here is what I know: it has a new motor, but 200k miles, it's red, it has a good stereo, no sunroof, it's a 4spd....
Maybe some of you can educate me on civic's a little, ( I truely don't like civic's, but the price is so low, I can't refuse it ).. What are some cheap mods that will help quickly gain hp?

It truly depends on if you prefer All-Motor power or F/I power. I've driven 3 different civics, and all were modded differently. The quickest by far was a built, all-motor setup in a 2000 civic hatch (pics on this link: http://350zmotoring.com/forums/show...E6&pagenumber=2 ...toward the middle/bottom of the page 2 and the beginning of page 3)

My mods were:

Exterior:
Mugen front lip
Spoon CF wing
Spoon Mirrors
2000 civic SI front grill
FiberImages CF hood
Sparco Hood pins
2000 Civic Type R headlights (gunmetal w/ city light)

and I painted my stock side skirts, door handles and license plate tray. All paint work done by Evans Autobody in San Bernardino.

Interior:
2000 Integra Type R interior w/ center armrest
Sparco steering wheel
Teckniks detachable hub (allows steering wheel to be unlocked and removed)
2000 Civic SI gauge cluster
2000 Civic SI stereo
2000 GSR shift knob
Apexi V-AFC

Suspension
TEIN coilovers
GSR disc brake conversion
Suspension techniques sway bars
2000 GSR front strut bar
Skunk 2 lower tie bar
DC Sports (then Skunk 2) rear upper strut bar

Wheels
15" Racing Hart CP35's (powder coated black)
Skunk 2 lightweight lug nuts
Nitto 450 (and 555R) tires

and now the good stuff....

Engine
2000 Civic SI block (bone stock)
1996 Integra GSR head (built by JG Engine Dynamics; full track level port/polish/.30 mill)
Toda Spec cams
Toda Valvetrain (I live and die by this valvetrain. It is superb!)
Skunk 2 manifold (ported/port matched)
2000 Type R throttle body
2000 Type R 4-into-1 header (w/ heat shields)
2000 Type R Valve cover
Skunk 2 cam gears
2000 Type R transmission (LSD installed)
Cluctchmasters Stage 3 clutch
Lightened flywheel
Mugen ECU w/ Skunk 2 jumper plug (9000+ redline)
2000 GSR brake booster
DC Sports SSK
NGK spark plug wires

...Dyno'd at 190@the wheels at Atomic Motorsports with a stock block!

Anyways, it's obvious that I prefer an all motor set-up. The B20 vtec setup that soon followed put down 232 HP@the wheels and was good for high 12 sec timeslips.

Sorry to hear about the 240sx, they are nice cars with alot of potential.

Afraid I can't help much with the Civic advice. I'm not a honda fan at all, but as the saying goes "if its free its me!". Had to buy all my own cars My first was an '80 AMC Spirit - A cheap, and a reliable first car, but I'd take a civic over it anyday

So I started saving and about a year later I picked up a '73 Mustang Mach I 351c. Had ALOT of fun modding and running it, especially the 1/4. It looked like a shark, accelerated like a shark, BUT handled like a whale Lost control of that beast a few times in snow and rain, we're talking backend flies out, multiple 360s, Pucker Factor of 9.0. Fortunatley it never happened with traffic nearby and I was able to pull her out before hitting anything.

Moral of the story: don't waste money on Civic mods, save it to buy the CAR you WANT, THEN mod it.

Hm.. have you ever gone over those nipples (plastic pieces they put between lanes to make sure you don't fall asleep while driving) in a bike before? If it rains and you slip on those.. it's over.

As for having a passenger, well, having a passenger upsets the balance of the bike. Besides, it's not comfortable at all. I gotta suck up all my fat to fit in those tight suits.. lol.

Oh yeah, and when you go over 85mph or so, you gotta bend down so the wind doesn't push you off the bike. As you accelerate pass that speed, you can't put your head up or you're off the bike...

It's in really good shape actaully, the motor was just rebuilt. The paint is in pretty good shape too, I washed it yesterday, it really needs to be buffed out though. The clutch will have to be replaced, but it still driveable, and its not to bad! It has a nice Kenwood cd player, the speakers are kinda weak though, so I am going to get them replaced too, along with the Kmart hubcaps. It has 225k miles, but it runs perfect, 85 in 3rd isn't to bad, i'm kinda shocked at what a good little car it is! I'll post pictures of it a little later!

Posted by: Dutchman

Nice clean Z, Z32TT !

How many miles and what kind of mods have you done ?

Mine is the same year, with just under 70k original miles.

Posted by: z32TT

Thanks for the complements guys. I too have that wing, it came with the car. I prefer the stock spoiler from the 94-96 twinturbo myself. Removing that one isnt going to be easy tho, as a few holes were drilled in the hatch to mount it. So ill have to live with it for now. As far as mods...

-HKS Mushroom Intake
-Energy Suspension polyurethane tension rod bushings
-Greg D Subframe Spacers
-Kenwood Excelon 859 head unit, 4x6 rockford fosgat's in the back
-Red stitched shifter, JSPEC tails from coz
-Devin Novak's 310z.bin ECU
-16psi boost, pump gas
-Gutted downpipes, testpipes
-Ebay brand exhaust (looks and sounds pretty fricken good)
-Blitz SBC-ID boost controller
-NOS Brand 85 shot wet nitrous kit (not installed yet, doesnt count toward that 400hp total)

I dyno'd 373RWHP without the nitrous and no tuning at all

Yup, there's a wealth of information and alot of good folks on tt.net. Funny you should mention it as a quick search on there yesterday helped me diagnose an annoying squeak

...ditto.
messes up the bodylines. i'd go with some sort of functional "whale-tail". But to each his own.

really clean though

Posted by: z32TT

The subframe spacers are made from aluminum, and compress the stock rubber subframe bushing. Try em out, they are the exact same for the s13/14. I got em from www.conceptzperformance.com Coz is a great guy, customer service is 2nd to none. Dutchman- I have seen that wall of plates b4, good job. Nice Z too The jspec tails look MINT MINT MINT on white Z's, u should look at getting some. Here is my car with the jspecs b4 I installed my exhaust... And dont worry, she's tucked away in my garage as of the last week of october, she doesnt like the snow. We got that snow fall in the middle of september then it all melted

Posted by: z32TT

Oh, and they look me like 30-45min to install, including jacking up the car and such. Easy install and they cost me like 40 or $45 american shipped. Good product...Very happy, helped with the wheel hop alot

Wanna keep the M3 in mint condition when i sell her..

Already have 37k km's on it. I picked up the Jeep for less than 30000 CDN (slightly higher mileage than normal, but still in EXC condition). Also.. it costs less to run the jeep than it does the M, I don't need to feed it premium!

Although I was not in vancouver when it happened (was up north at work), I bought the jeep for the occasional snow we get here. Figures.. Its also a lot roomier.

oo, here we go again. so i suppose everyone who drives an is300 or evo has a riced out car? or is that ok since the car comes stock like that? the whole "altezza lights=rice" is getting old man, get over it.

Posted by: Sfkn2

^^ I agree.. I'm so sick of people saying that altezzas are riced.

Why can't we just all get along?

Posted by: justin.b

I don't know any evo owners that haven't switched to the older, solid, evo 7 lights. Unfortunately for IS owners, there are no solid lights available.

My comment was just a personal observation. If it doesn't bother you, then ignore it. If you want to transfrom the thread to a rice-bashing free-for-all - I'm game. Just keep in mind before you go there that there are a heck of a lot more people that find altezza's offfensive than find them 'mad tite yo'.

-Justin

Posted by: JayFReaZy

All the evo owners I know and see driving around have the stock altezza lights, I have yet to see the jdm tails on them in person. As far as the IS300 and rx330, rice or not? You didnt answer that. I dont wanna "hi-jack" this thread into a "rice flamming" thread. But, just the comments you make about them being "madd tite yo" is just dumb. I mean, its almost like ur judging me by saying "madd tite yo". I like them, plain and simple. I think they look better than the stock red w/pink covered reverse lights. Further more you saying "you wanna argue, im game" prooves this will go no where. Its like arguing which color do you like better, white or black. Its all about PERSONAL PREFERENCE learn that, and dont bash me for that. I've seen imports and domestics that have huge aluminum wings, 8" exhaust tips, stupid stickers, vinyls, and outrages bodykits, and yes those arent exactly my taste but you know what, hey, im not driving it, not my car, i could care less. Im not gonna say a smart remark if someone had something i wasnt really liking, unless they asked for my opinion, which i didnt ask from you. Like I said before, this having altezza lights and being rice is getting reaaaaallllyyy old. I suppose the stock evo is rice, but once you change to the jdm tails it no longer is? lol. Sooner or later, jdm will be the next rice, lol.

I never called your lights rice, yet you keep defending them and saying you're sick of people calling them rice. Since it wasn't me, I'm guessing you've heard it from others. Probably many others.

If they look so much better, why defend them to me?

Okay, before I say anything I'll confess that this isn't my car but my family's. It's not that new either, been with us for a couple of months, but my first chance to have pictures of it. I know you see about a zillion of these on the road, but you know how much excitment a new car has.

The plate says Dubai ?

Yeah, it's a Dubai plate. That's a picture of the Burj al-Arab (the 7 star hotel). Don't you love how I just had to white out the numbers?

Anyway, I wouldn't know if it's powerful or not. I haven't driven it yet, I will when I go back home this summer.

Hmm, I'm just wondering why it doesn't have headlight washers. I thought the X5's always stuck out? I dunno, I'll inquire about that.

my first car when I turned 17 was a Mini Cooper S (took it 230km/h)
manual was a hassle in the early mornings (like 7am on an steep uphill where the traffic doesnt move).. so I traded it in for a Mini Cooper now.. (took it to 200km/h)

and I gv one of my P900s to my bro so he lets me drive his BMW Z4 whenever I want

my next car is going to be an import Lotus Elise from the UK

I knew you'd like it. The inside is a bad colour though, I would've prefered the titanium trim rather than the wood trim.. but I guess it's not my car.
