Putting a stall convertor in it would make it more possible, but because of the turbo lag you are better able to control rev to control the turbo. I'm not saying people can't do it.. I just think it is pointless. IMO...
I think its for people too scared to drive a manual... and get good at it... I have seen turboed autos and raced them... and if you don't have the balls to control it on your own then by all means turbo that auto all the way. I just know my car.. I can optimize all my shift points and it will be the smoothest ride you will ever feel. Then again I am not going to hate on anyone who wants to better their car and some people have an auto and thats what they have to work on.. and its their preference to just slap a turbo on where as I would do a swap and then slap the turbo on.. To each his own. Like I said it is just an opinion thing I'm not saying I am right, but I have never really met a true car fan who was proud to have an auto lol. I keep one for my daily driver in the city and thats the extent of that. |

Is it a coincidence that DSM guys with automatics are running 9's with trap speeds of 135-140 MPH, while it takes guys with a 5-speed typically 145-150 MPH to get 9's? I'll give you a hint, it's because it's pretty hard to launch under boost with a stick, and you don't hold boost through shifts. Also, look at the cost of built transmissions. To run 9's on a 5-speed you're looking at about 6500-7000 dollars invested between a transmission and a good twin plate clutch. Maybe 1000 bucks into the automatic for a new torque converter and a different, high pressure manual valve body. Granted auto's and a road course don't mix, but on the street you can easily have less lag and a more streetable car with an auto. |

. You gotta admitt, nowadays automobile manufacturers are taking design, ideas and tweak it a little, adds some elements and call it their own, look at the new Accord, most of the Lexus.... that's jus how the market are and how it will be. You should be glad other automobile company is getting ideas from your choice of automobile but not from a kia, right?
I take it as a compliment when I see other vehicle have similar design than mine. Cheers
