Currently I am driving a 93 Toyota 4Runner SR5 that has treated me quite well and I've put a lot of money into the audio system (well alot for me ) It's slow as hell though when I get past 40mph...

Anyway got a new Mazda3s sedan coming in April (on order) Black on black leather fully loaded....*sigh* can't wait! Zoom Zoom!

I love the white. I'd have gotten it if I was getting an S or if white was available on the regular RSX. It's the best colour on that car (followed by red ).

That's a cool colour. Gotta love the engines they have in Europe and Asia... I know a guy who has a 518 (not even an injection), I wonder how slow that must be.

I'm sure it's enough on a 3-Series though. I love those European license plates, better than our squarish plates here.

it's got clear corners though...

one thing I never understood is why clear corners can never be standard in North America...

Posted by: Koofteh

Doesn't the M3 have them here in NA? I dunno, our X5 has the ambers on the side too.

I guess it depends on the country's laws. We have a car that was originally from France, so the reverse lights are amber rather than white.

my bad...

I was trying to say that why can't clear corners be a standard fitting on most cars and not something which is regarded as a special option that's only available on the flagship model or with sport packages...

WRT the laws...shouldn't clear corners be illegal if they don't fit them for legal reasons in NA?

Posted by: Lagos

so the pictures work now?

regarding the engine sizes, it has to do with taxes. if your car has more than 1600cc, your taxes increase astronomically. And I am not talking about the sales tax when you buy the car, I am talking about the yearly "car tax" you pay to the goverment. For example, this year's tax is ~$400CAD but if we were to get a 320i, the tax would've been ~$2200CAD, not to mention the sales tax doubles on a 320i. If the engine size is over 3.0L, then you are completely screwed, the yearly tax is well over ~$5000.

btw, I didn't drive a 518 but I drove a 520 and the car is actually not that bad. It picks up ok on a manual.

I drive a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT 2 door automatic 3.3 liter 6 block.

It packs a nice punch for it being a completely stock 180 horse engine... and auto at that.

I hate to admit it but I'm stuck with the car for now, I LOVE it but it's been giving me engine trouble lately.

For you car audio enthusiasts:

I got a single Resonant Engineering SE 15 inch subwoofer, rated 600 RMS on a Tsunami DB1100 wired at 2 ohm for 650 RMS... I'm gonna get my hands on a Resonant Engineering HC 15 inch woofer and run the amp at 1100 RMS @ 1 ohm. I expect to be getting a lot of tickets in town for indecent noise.

Good for you and your cars. But some people buy civics for its obvious reason. It's an ECONOMY car.. get that into you pathetic little brain of yours. If they rice it up, then that's a different story.

I have a part time job and I drive a civic and pay for my own insurance. I don't care what kind of crap u got. I'm just posting my car, cause the thread says "what car do u drive?".

BTW, can u afford all those cars on a part time job? What is your problem man. I posted my car, if u want to post pics of your car that's fine, but don't be hating my car.

If you don't like civics then keep it to yourself.

Wasting my time on crap like you. I'm outta here.

what year? The 01 and up GTs use a tremec 3650 tranny which sucks compared to the old t-45.. this is, if you're gonna get a manual. If you're going used, go 99/00.

I am calling BS on this. You are 17, work part time at a grocery store, and can afford the insurance/gas on 4 cars, one of them being an LS1 Trans Am. There is no way that your insurance is affordable on that car. The Mustang is probably a V6, the Ranger is probably PLPD, no idea on the Chevelle, probably just 6 month summer insurance on that. I am seriously calling BS on this.

Posted by: Stifler

it's not BS at all. If you work hard and get 6 shifts a day and make 11 and hour, then work for a construction company in July making 25.00 an hour then yes i can afford it. you were right about the chevelle it is only a summer car, the Mustang is a V8, GT model, trans am is 290/month also summer car, ranger is a v6 and is 95/ month mustang is 260/month and the chevelle is not insured however i still drive it the odd time. So for the winter months i only drive the Ranger which gives me 6 months to insure the other vehicles. so yes i can afford the insurance/gas on all my cars. Glad to see you drive a ford though. FORD ROCKS!

Thanks.

well my expectations for this car wasn't that high begin to begin with because it was more of a need than a want. so far everythings great with it. it's a family sedan and that's how it acts. umm... gas mileage is great, 32-34 mpg for me on 87 octane. the stock stereo was weak so i just put in a clarion cd deck and it sounds decent now.

That is not a Mustang GT. Mustang GT's don't come with V6 exhaust pipes. Nice try though. I knew you were trying to put one over on this thread. Go ahead, give it one more shot.

Posted by: epic408

Arent GT's in general V8?

Posted by: Stifler

those are custom exhausts that my uncle got for me which will be switched with Dual Borla Exhaust, however it is a GT model, and yes they are V8 this one is. For some reason they were meant to make the car have more of a rumble to it, but instead it made it quiter. The Borlas will make it louder.

Posted by: Stifler

forgot to add

the reason we put that exhaust on and took off all the GT badging is because we made it look like a sleeper, incase anyone doesn't know what a Sleeper is,it's when ppl think your car is not aspowerful as it really is, they think oh it's a V6, it's really and V8 and then they're shocked that a V6 beat em, but i cheated, MEH. so the reason it looks like a V6 exhaust is because it's a sleeper, the right exhaust is a dump off oxhaust near the center of the car.

Posted by: [Corporal Dan]

Bull ××××. The bumper is different on GTs.

And where are those velle pics?

Posted by: TheOne

I guess the only way to solve this one is a picture of the engine bay... (with a sign that says: This is a GT sleeper Hofo)

Posted by: Stifler

I have to make the velle pics smaller some how, my uncle knows the owner of one of the ford dealer ships here in Ottawa, so i get all my parts next to nothing, all outside details have been changed. The onlt thing that has to be removed is the hood scoop. But it is a Mustang GT, if i can find the bill of sale , i'll show you.

I have a 97 Honda Accord EX

It looks pretty nice inside and out I guess (I get alot of compliments on it)

I just wish it accelerated a little faster. I remember driving a friend's 97 Honda civic and it accelerated alot faster then my accord, but my stepdad says thats because accords are heavier cars than civics.

Oh well, its pretty reliable and gets me where I need to go.

Ever taken it off the pavement?

I only pulled one stunt once in a parking lot up in Brampton. I climbed a 1.5 foot wall to get from one building to another. I saw it and felt the instant challenge.

That's the only kinda big thing I've done. I always make U-Turns over the medians. That's done a few times a week. Especially leaving those gas stations where there's a one way sign forcing you to make a right when you need to go left!

My favorite is when there's a large lot of traffic on the highway and I go through the grass and over to the other side where traffic is lighter. I've even exited off the highway 4X4 when there was a lot of traffic. I still remember the look on the people's faces that were still stuck there! "I wish I had one of those now!!" LOL

Why not off road?

I'm not a big fan of off roading. May be cause I've never done it. May be because a tire costs $1,000. If I ever burst one off roading
May be because it is an accomplished goal of mine. Hell if someone gave it to me, I would probably abuse it! But it didn't come easy! I worked hard for it and bought it when I was 25. I want to make sure it's going to last me!!

P.S. When I get my McLaren I won't drive it 241Mph. Doesn't mean I'm wasting it.. Just means I'm smart.

Posted by: Koofteh

You are kidding about the McLaren, right?

Posted by: Humvee

Guess we'll have to see!!

It's only $2,000,000 Canadian!

That's selling $2,000 computers at $1,000 each.
or
Selling 4,000 P800s at $500 each He he he..

If you ever see one on the road in Canada.. I assure you it'll be none other than me..

Posted by: Koofteh

Yes, but how much of the $1000 you make is actually profit?

It's hard to believe, I'm sorry. I wouldn't get that car unless I had a host of other cars to drive around and keep the F1 for special days.

A lovely 2002 RSX Type-S in arctic blue color. not much done, or gonna be done to it, just lowered to take the SUV look outa it.

This car is just pure awesome, ×××× fast, and i love the 6 to 3 down shifts in the highway, it just flies away. Very fuel efficient and faster compared to my buddy's 330CI or GTI 1.8T, specially compared to the 330CI (these cars have absolutely nothing special, just a simple bimmer with 2 doors ).

but yeah, i will soon be selling it and moving up to something RWD like a used 350Z or RX-8 or sometin like those.but nothing beats my seat heaters in toronto's winter.

The McLaren F1 is street legal, that's the whole point of it.

The SLR Mclaren is a Mercedes. Mclaren just did the motor and suspension work. The F1 is street legal and is one of the fastest production cars to date. Except it will set you back 1.3 million.

I didnt say THE fastest I said ONE OF THE fastest. And yes the ENZO has faster acceleration 3.1 to 60. And I think the Mclaren was 3.4 or something. BTW has anyone ever seen the 1994 BOSS 429 Mustang built by the Ford SVT division? It has a recorded 0-60mph time of 1.9 seconds, on street tires and with an AUTO trans.

Posted by: Koofteh

I don't think you'd fine one easily even if you did have the $1.3 million. The owners are all smarter than to sell their cars.

I always thought the F1 was the fastest production street legal car? How is the Veyron? That car looks really heavy, it looks slower than a Hyuandai Accent.

mercedes is bringing back the Mclaren in 2005. It is suppose to look like the old 50's racer I think. in other words the bat-mobile, from the very first batman movie with keaton.

Posted by: Koofteh

Really? Do you have any pics/articles for me to look at?

Posted by: NextelsOnly

wow sounds pretty cool!

Posted by: mawti

It always annoys me when I hear people speak of "the Mclaren" as a specific car. Because it is not. Like Ferrari, Mclaren is a racing team, that now happens to produce road going cars, but just recently.

Will you ever hear anyone say, "hey look, its the Ferrari"?
Of course not. So I never understood why people say "the Mclaren". That just doesn't make any sense and it makes you sound like an idiot.

If you say "this year's Ferrari", it may be understood you are refering to the F2004. And if you say, "this year's Mclaren", people will also know you are refering to the MP4-19.

But don't say "the" Mclaren. Because there isn't just one.

ajponu, I believe you are mistaken. First of all, if you were refering to the Mclaren F1 ("F1" being the name of the car) that was produced but in 1997, then Mercedes will not "bring" back that car because they had nothing to do with it. Mclaren was the ones who produced it, designed by their cheif engineer at the time, Gordon Murray. And afterall, it was powered by a BMW engine.

The car I believe you are thinking of is the Mercedes-Benz Mclaren SLR ("SLR" being the name of the car), which is already available now as a 2004 model. Yes, that car is a throwback to the old 1950's Mercedes 300SL Coupe aka "Gullwing Mercedes", and World Champion grand prix cars, the W196, driven by the great Juan Manuel Fangio.

But I'm not sure where you got the idea of it having anything to do with Batman. Perhaps it's because the shape of the SLR somewhat resembles the old Batmobile from the movies.

sorry I dont know my Mclarens' I only saw something about it when I was looking up "THIS years maybach 62" I was just wondering, if I said that chevy was bring back "THE impala" that would be wrong? hmmm... I would have to say chevy is bringing back "this year's impala"? just curious.

Posted by: Koofteh

Yeah, when I read your previous post I was highly doubtful. It made no sense, so I asked for sources.

Posted by: Craptain

Hey, wow, gee... HoFo has a car forum. I love when people make stuff up about their cars.

Here is my car, just about everything has been replaced at one point of another. It is a Ford you know 1996 Mustang GT with a motor from a 2000 GT. I still don't know about the clear tail lights. No more supercharger and no more N2O.

If you were trying to give a parallel example to what you said, it would be like saying "the Chevy", like how you said "the Mclaren", which obviously makes absolutely no sense whatsovever since there isn't just one type of Chevy. People would think you were stupid.

Slushbox, but it isn't so bad... A new valve body and shift kit goes a long way I went with 3:55, but there are times I would like 3:73+ gears.

Main thing I hate about Mustangs is that around here, everybody and their mother has one!

Posted by: Craptain

Yeah, not everyone has the money for a German Chevrolet.

As far as everyone and their mother having one, I guess it depends on where you live. In my part of town, I'd venture to guess that German cars outnumber most others. You could always sell one of those things in your garage and move away from the everyday riffraf.

Who said anything about a German Chevrolet? Are you referring to a BMW???

I wasn't talkin sh:t about your car, I was stating that many people in my area have them....

Posted by: thegonagle

Nobody reads these things, do they?

Anyway, here goes:

I drive a 2001 Mazda Protege ES 2.0 5-speed.

I picked it up last October (I think it was October) for $9500 with 18,000 miles and it now has close to 30,000 miles, which means I drive roughly 20,000 miles per year.

I got a 5 year loan from my credit union because they offered the same interest rate for 3, 4, or 5 year used car loans, but because I make double payments, it will be paid off in 2.5 years total, less than 2 more years as I write this. (No pre-payment penalty--simple interest on the declining balance. I only did a 5 year loan to have a lower payment "just in case," though I had no intention of taking 5 years to pay it off.)

Posted by: [IFC]Area51

I currently own a 2003 chevy impala, is big and roomy, has decent power but i feel it slips a little when i gun it, Unless is a police package impala, the regular stock is ok.

My next car is probably going to be:
Avalance
Tahoe
Equinox
2004 Acura T.L
or
Chrysler 300c

Nicee... Looks like a very good wax job, what do you use?
How long have you had it? Is it treating you good so far? I looked into getting one of those too before i settled with the Z car. I wasn't happy with the fact that mazda released it with 250hp... then later admitted it only had 238hp (which was still pushing it considering the dyno results that ppl have seen).

Posted by: kellybrf

thanks! i use mcguires wash and the new nxt wax. its really easy to use but i think im going to get the three step as well b/c my paint needs a good cleaning.

its a great car and i wouldnt trade it for anything (except the m3 of course!) i looked at the z, evo, sti and kinda the g35 and was most impressed w/the 8s apporach to the driving experience. it could definately use some more power, but it more than makes up for it in the handling and refinement of the cabin. as an everyday car its exactly what im looking for. plus, the evo and sti are just too boy-racerish for me, i like the sophisticated curves of the 8.

Posted by: dkny_boi

Ahh... i wanted to try the NXT wax too, but every store i checked in my city, no one had it. I might have to just order it online. Which "three step" are you talking about though, as far as i understand there was just the nxt wax... and the only other nxt products are the wash and the booster spray. Or do you mean the gold class paint cleaner and polisher?

I agree with you on the sti and evo... fast as they are, and as much as i liked the evo 4 and 5's... it's just not for me anymore. Plus i'm not really interested in sedans right now either. I looked at G35 too, but would rather have the sportier package of the Z. The handling is pretty decent on the Z... i'm not gonna say it's as nimble feeling as RX-8 or S2000, but it's good for me, and my preference was for more towards power so that's where i ended up
(i have to admit though... that on occassion, the extra backseats would've came in handy lol )

Posted by: JimmyC

kellybrf:

Very Very VERY clean RX-8! Amazing detailing...

I also wanted to try out the new Meguiars NXT wax, but I could never get a hold of them... it only comes in liquid right? Not paste?

Right now I'm using the Turtle Wax Platinum series paste wax, it's really good, but not as "wow" as they claim it on their commercials, so I really want to try something else. Or is it because my car is silver so the shine doesn't come out as much?

But again, nice job! Mind telling us how much time you spent on washing/waxing/detailing?

Posted by: dkny_boi

It's most likely the silver. I've owned both a silver car and a red car (with a bit of pearl, not the plain red). I've used meguiar's gold class on both... and on the red car i noticed the difference much more than on the silver. It might be just me too, but that's what i've noticed... anytime i've been to car shows... it's always the red cars, or deeper blues that, if detailed properly, just look amazing and deep.

Just a question about the RX8.

I'm seriously considering trading in two of my three cars (an '02 grand cherokee LTD w/ 4.7L V8 <-current daily driver, '95 v6 mustang convertible and an '03 BMW M3) to get one. I test drove both the auto and manual versions of the car, though only VERY briefly (ie, round the block and back to the stealership).

Any impressions? is yours the GT model? I need a new, more fuel efficient daily driver. Does the RX take premium?

My impressions where that the car lacks low end power, but i'm certain it makes up for it on the higher end. The salesman would not let me wind out the engine.. so I couldn't really do anything to test it. I like the car for the way it looks, handles and the interior is top notch.

Posted by: dkny_boi

The automatic that you test drove... has less power than the 6spd model. The auto's... because some reason about the torque converter not being able to handle 9000rpm, only has 197hp.
The car's peak power comes in at 8500rpm, so you'll be really winding out the engine to extract all the power out of it. If you've ever test driven a honda S2000... i'd say power delivery is similar to that car if you want a comparison.
The car does take premium. I really loved the car's handling during my short drive, but wasn't very happy with the power.

RSXs are nice ... especially if you buy the Type-R replica kit .... looks very very Style and sporty. Better looking than my friggin wagon I must say !

Oh yeah ... here's something interesting I wanna share ... I was driving my Grandma and grandpa back to Richmond Hill last Sunday night at around 11:30 pm or so....they actually stayed up that late for a birthday dinner and gathering over here in Mississaugga. anyways ..... I was driving really fast on the 407 because I wanna go back home sooner to crash...little did I know .. I was going 160-170 already ... then around the 427 I got pulled over ... before the officer came up to my car My grandma woked up from her sleep and ask me what happen .. and I took her what ever you do " Nod " at what I ask you. so the office came over .. told me that I was speeding and ask me why .. I told him " Oh Sir, my grandma is having a really bad pain in her teeth because she just did a surgery to plant a fake teeth in there ... she couldn't eat anything for the night but then we found out that she left her medicine is forgotten at home ... thats why I drove so fast ... " l then the officer kinda gave into my story and left me by ... ahahahahha .... he said " well please.. if you wanna drive fast .... go around 130KM or 140KM but not 170 ... I'm not gonna give you a ticket this time but please don't do it again ! "
