What car do you drive?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Wow, whoever you got that from took very good care of it.

I wonder i anyone has tried to put a small-block V8 into a DeLorean. That would be interesting.

Posted by: Skylinepilot

No, the flux capacitator makes it a little hard to drop one in

Wow! your car still looks like brand new, it's excellent. Must've spent a lot of money to keep them clean and shine, eh. BTW, are you the 1st owner of this car since 1981?

Posted by: Rev. Voodoo

how does the air get into the engine? there a vent or something, or just draft into it?

Posted by: Skylinepilot

My guess is the air comes in from the bottom right of the pic and into the black covering, the silverish looking hose/pipe hugging the reservoir on the right. At least thats what it looks like to me.

You got it... The silverish hose on by the coolant reservoir is actually the part of the air intake that goes to a "stove" for preheating the incoming air. There is a thermal damper that switches from the stove and the regular air path that comes from an intake just behind the right rear window panel (hard to see in the pics, but it is a mirror image of the left side.)

I don't yet have my license, but I have an old, '86 BMW 316 waiting in carage.
I know it's nothing to brag about, but it's my first car, so if (more like when...) I get it scratched and all, it won't irritate that much.

Nice and clean

But why do you have an Acura rims there? is that a conversion integra?

Posted by: yis903unposubl

it's USDM ITR. I did the JDM Front End Conversion. I'm in the process of hunting down DC5 17" ITR Wheels (look better than DC2 to me). However, I'm debating it, and thinking of just getting the HONDA center wheel cap to replace the current ACURA. 17's are a bit big for this car...

well, there's many of them like that, my dad looks at salvaged boats on a lot of sites. but, on the car one i use, only car dealers/repair shops can register, and you have to pay so much per month.

Posted by: kellybrf

if you know the right places to look and what youre doing with cars you can find some real steals. my dad almost picked up an f40 for a great price b.c it was in a fire, but in the end decided he didnt have enough time to work on it

Posted by: SuperDudeBT

yuup, we got my truck for about 9000 (12000, after shipping and fees and stuff). its worth about probly 18000. pretty good buy. it was a theft recovery. we're hoping to get a really expensive car that was flooded in Katrina for a good price. the market is flooded (no pun intended there) w/ water damaged cars from the hurricanes.

The subwoofers are amazing... a while ago I went over some sort of pothole...(and because I have lowering springs). One of the ground wires ripped off the cap (somehow), and when I put it back in, everytime i pump the music, I notice that the amp shuts off for like 2 seconds, than play's for 5 seconds. Apparently it keeps going into Protect Mode, and the power light shuts off... <-- I have to get that checked out soon

Posted by: Rev. Voodoo

oooh yeah, get that checked!!! I had something similar happen to an older MTX amp I had, something inside had shorted and it kept going into protect. By the time I pulled it out for an inspection, the whole side (near the fuses, etc) had melted into a mess.....nearly burned the damn trunk up!

I am proud owner of a 1988 Buick Regal... I bought the car more than two years ago wrecked for 300.00. It had about 83k, it checked out too. Clean motr, smooth ride, bought it from owner in KC MO. I drove it, still wrecked, all the way back to KY and took three months to repair the whole passenger side which had been utterly demolished by some lady. I replaced the door, built the rear quarter panel back out and painted it, rebuilt the tranny due to old seals deteriorated, go figure on an 88 with those miles. I got the car liscensed and insured, been drinving it since. No other Regal is like mine! I put blood sweat and tears into it and hate to get rid of it... However, I will, and for a 02 A4... Go figure. Thats the scoop on my ride, the 88 baby.

Top Gears test between the BMW M6, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and the Porsche Carrera S, they commented that M6 was the fastest out of the 3, but the SMG Drivelogic system was too much of a hassle to get the engine from 400 to 507 hp, the aston was slower than they expected it to be, but overall the porsche was given the top spot and it was cheaper than both the BMW and the Aston....I personally would take the M6 anyday, even though im not too much of a fan of the SMG tranny, hate to hear rumors but its easy to believe that BMW is supposedly only making the new M3 without a 3rd pedal on the floor, so it will only be available in SMG...BMW is headed down the same alley that Mercedes did a little while back, trying to make cars how they want and not how the customer wants.

Is that plane crashing into something???

Posted by: CChoi83

BBS LM's are awesome. I love those. Good luck with them man.

I drive 3 out of 4 cars in my driveway.

1. 00' Navigator (Work Car)
2. 06' E500 4Matic
3. 04' Cayenne Turbo

The 4th car is a 96' Toyota Avalon but my sister's been driving it for a while now so I don't touch it (THANK GOD). I don't like the Navigator but it comes in handy here and there because of cargo space. I drive the E and the CT a lot but I NEVER drive the CT to work. I work for my parents and we don't want our employees/customers to see it for various reasons. All of the cars are daily driven. Fun factor goes to the Turbo (for obvious reasons). It's ridicuously fast and handles amazingly for an SUV and with the addition of the summer rims (SportTechno) and tires (P Zero Rosso's) I bought for it it's awesome. I just have to keep in mind that driving on 20" lowpro's isn't the greatest thing to do when you live in NY. The E500 is probably the most comfortable in terms of parking and everything else. I'm always yelling, "WHERE THE POWER!?" though. It's torquey and quick but it's no comparison to the CT. The Navigator is just a piece of crap (no offense if anyone has one). It's just too big, too slow and well, I have this thing against American cars in general.

So yeah, the fastest, most powerful, quickest, best handling car in my driveway is a SUV. Go figure. I'm just pissed that Porsche is releasing the Turbo S... oh well, next time.

Just remember boys and girls. The speed limit is just a RECOMMENDATION from the gov't, state, city, county, etc. And always, ALWAYS, have your radar/laser detector with you. Never leave home without one.

Great 4x4, dont get me wrong...but after 4 months of driving the thing I realized I'm just not an SUV type of guy.

That's kinda funny cause my friend has an 04 E500 with the sport package and a 05 Cayenne Turbo. I've driven both and I have to agree, the Cayenne is DEFINITELY a machine. My only complaint is that everything that can go wrong with the truck seems to go wrong. His CEL came on after 500KMs and at 4000 clicks everything is messed up from the airbag sensor to the door handles sticking. You'd think for a 150K car they'd give you something the works a little better eh.

* '99 Toyota Camry - it gets used as a doggie-mobile and for stuff that you don't mind getting your car dirty with
* '06 Toyota Avalon - the "luxury car" among the others. i love driving this car

1995 5.0 Mustang

I love it, it was always my dream car and its coming together, slowly but surely. Just finished the headers for my diy Twin turbo kit, should be on the boost soon. When i get back from basic training i was gonna start concentrating on dropping in a 351 with a set of ported heads i have along w/ the turbos.

and i have to add that it is a VERY reliable car, only problems i've had in two years of running it on a 150 shot of nitrous was my radiator fan burning out, beyond that - no problem at all! also keep in mine i religiously change the oil, sparkplugs and fuel filter (along with all other general maintenence) on it.

NICEEE!! I bet i can hit more cones than you

Plan on making it a monster miata at any point?? I read with a bone stock 5.0 5 spd swap that you would be in the 12's in the 1/4...that is freaking nuts!

very impressive, you ever run that thing on the dyno? what kind of numbers is it putting out?

Posted by: srt4eh

i haven't lately....I need to get it tuned now that I have the return fuel setup, etc. w/o nitrous it should be around 300hp and 290 ft-lbs of torque. I ran a 13.2 @ 108 so far this year with no tuning and no spray on all-season tires. I invested in slicks because last year when I sprayed - I ran 13.1 @ 116....lol.

Posted by: 91RS

No offence, but you could have gotten that same power in a stock late model LS1 F-Body for a lot less than you paid for just the Neon alone and had a much better looking car to boot. Just my opinion.

Posted by: srt4eh

none taken - but I love the look on peoples faces when I smoke their f-body. I am a neon freak - I like the look I like the car. Camaros, Firebirds, mustangs are ugly to me. Neons are lighter too....more fun to autox as well.

nice man, very clean, im not really a fan of the 4 door 3 series but this one looks sweet. you should put some angel eyes in, would really put a nice touch to the front end.

Posted by: 91RS

Beautiful car and fantastic pictures too! In my opinion, sedans are the only way to go with BMW (with the exception of the Z4) and Mercedes. What kind of camera do you have?

Thanks guys, I appreciate it

smokey2k4... I already have them

I figured it had to be an SLR since the pictures were so nice. Is that body kit stock?

Posted by: bimmerchop

Thanks. The kit is aftermarket.

i think those are called angel eyes...

Posted by: SeanZ0r

@srt4eh, all thoes mods and you are still rocking stock turbo? Isnt it a dinky 16G?

Posted by: srt4eh

yep....still the stock turbo. I just don't have the money right now to buy a bigger turbo. don't let the small turbo fool you - it spools up super fast and still is able to boost 20 psi.

Posted by: SeanZ0r

Do you have a flow chart of it? I bet you cannot get more that 250Whp from that snail, it must be working very hard to compress 20Psi, you could make that number with a PE18G with only 12Psi.

if you bothered to read his earlier posts he said that its making around 300 hp.

Posted by: SeanZ0r

I did read it, and that's obviously at the flywheel.

Posted by: SeanZ0r

Thoes angel eyes are sick on the BMW's, they turn on with the HID's right? They dont do anything else, except for looks right?

The drum is that black thing inside the rear wheels.

In the back a lot of cars have drum brakes:

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/drum-brake.htm

In the front all newer cars have disc brakes, and most more expensive cars have discs on all 4 wheels and no drums:

Come to Metro Detroit. Every other person has a Ford Fusion or Mercury Milan. It is getting pretty disgusting. The reason is that almost everybody either works for one of the big 3 American Auto companies or knows somebody that does so they all get employee pricing.

Here's some pics of the last few cars/trucks I owned. All the mods were done by me. Cept the Jag, since it really didn't have any mods done to it. I bought the 03 Sierra in 02, my grandfather gave me the 02 Jag, I kept the Jag and the 03 Sierra, then sold the Jag, they're a POS car. I then bought the 05 Scion xB, drove it for almost a year and then sold both the 03 Sierra and 05 Scion and bought my current truck, the 05 Chevy Crew Cab. Now I'm looking at an 07 Chevy Avalanche. lol
