What car do you drive?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: gham

i drive a smart and i hate it and love it, reasons:

Pros:
a smart is small, cheap and i need less fuel than before.apart from that i have only two seats wich makes it impossible for my mates to push me to drive them somewhere, low insurance

Cons:
a smart is not even a real car, it is almost a trolley to go shopping with, no engine power, speed or other thrills. sometimes i feel like an idiot driving around in a smart.

but i just cant afford another car, so what can i do..........

Sold the 03 BMW M3 a couple months ago..

Now have

Titanium Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 < daily driver
Black Hummer H2 <-toy car
Mineral Grey Mustang GT coupe <-sweetest ride..

The Jeep i've had about 3 years now.. picked up the 05 stang about 2 months ago, and the H2 about a week ago.

pics of my trucks..

jeep.. This is an older pic, its now about 3" higher due to bigger tires (31" BFG AT vs 28" crap stock tires) and BDS lift kit.

H2.. Completely stock, plan to black out the grill, run the tires for a while and then get something a bit more aggressive and then on to the trails!

No pics of the stang yet..

Nice! I love H2s, it's nice to see someone who isn't going to put 30" wheels on it too! Get a good exhaust system for it, I heard one on the street with a nice exhaust (duals, not sure if they were true though) and it sounded bad ***. I'm not too sure how blacking out the grill will look since the rest of it is black though. I really want to get an H2 one day.

Yes it does But I just love the freedom to leave when I want and go home or where ever I want, instead of waiting for the bus and sitting next to people.

Plus, I can blast the music as loud as the speakers would want me to.

Thanks man.

The exhaust sounds bad-*** stock. When you start up the truck in sounds like a camaro, around 2500 rpm it really starts to resonate like a series 70 flow master. When you cruise at say 60-80kph, the engine is turning between 1-2k rpm and the exhaust sounds awesome. Only under hard acceleration does it really get loud.

Its a dual into single exhaust system with the tail pipe up high. I'd like to convert it to dual exhaust but also want to maintain the departure angles on the truck. I've seen a few h2's with aftermarket/custom dual exhaust setups but the pipes always end up under the rear bumper and that seriously reduces the departure angle.

That'd be me. Ha ha ha. I think you drive an Avalon? I love the Avalon..my aunt has one so I drive it pretty often - that 3.5L V6 always amazes me. I think there were 5 or 6 of us in there going to get lunch yet the car had the same amount of get up and go as if it were just me in the car. When it comes down to it though, the Camry is the perfect size for me and a low maintenance I4 is what a college student should have. I'm thinking about trading up to a '07 Camry once they hit the market used next year though

Yep -- and I used it all during middle school and part of high school. I still prefer to drive though.. Heh. And I'm certainly paying the price! Insurance, gas, and parking add up but it's worth the price

wait, i'm confused. are you and Hawaiian Boy the same person?

yep, i have an Avalon. i love my car too. such a joy to drive.

Posted by: IsLand_BoY

^ Ha ha no. What made you think that?

The Avalon is certainly Toyota's secret weapon.. Around here you can get a Touring for $26K USD + TTL which is pretty darn good considering it's practically a Lexus. It's funny though cuz my aunt doesn't think her car is anything special. My friends and I wash car on the weekends so we always wash/polish the Avalon too . She totally could care less but she always gives me money for washing her car. It's probably for my own satisfaction that her car stay clean more than anything

Most likely go to a 37" tire, if I upped the rim size, it would at most be to an 18" rim, but the stock rims are good for now. The tires have about 70% tread left (who ever owned this thing before me drove it very, very little, and then never offroad ) so it could be a while before I change 'em. When I do, same brand (BF goodrich) but the mud tires.

Realgone - H2 = ignorant? oh the irony..

You should get the stock H2 wheels painted black. With the rest of it being black, it'll look hot (especially if you get tires with raised white letters).

oh man. i guess i'm associating hawaiian with island, and vice versa. sorry.

$26k for the Touring is good. i have that trim, and mine came out to $34k, which includes an upgraded stereo system, moonroof/sunroof, cargo & floor mats, alarm system, and emergency kit. ah well.
lol. i didn't think the Avalon was anything special either. but the more i read the reviews on it, it's growing on me and i'm not at all regretting it.

Yes they are some pretty nice cars. Ive had mine since i was 16, i dont think ill ever get rid of it, im hoping that it will be worth something someday with it having such low production numbers. Ill tell you what though, that car was loaded back in the day, factory CD player, JBL audio system, auto headlights that also dim automatically, ABS, and all kinds off other cool stuff....

here's my Talon

i had plans to trick it out, but i decided to use the money to help a friend get back on their feet. the car runs good, i'm in the process of saving up for another. this one was $1500 and it came with $1000 rims. She runs perfect, and in the future, i do have plans to fix it, not really trick it out, but just get some new body panels becuase as you can see the car is heavily dented.

Nice drive, looks nice, I like it. I get a lot of complaints whenever someone has to sit in the backseat though... Small.

Nothing done to it besides a remote starter. Had tints on it last year until my brother got a speeding ticket and they had to get taken off (Michigan law), now they're just on the back.

Happened to me when I had my Galant but I was a little bit opposite of you. I couldn't stand 300 a month for 7 years of payment, so ended up getting a used Accord for 350 a month for 3 years. I have 2 more to go

Nice car, its a shame the american galants are so woefully underpowered, you should work on doing a 4G63 motor (the one used in the galant VR4, turbo eclipse and lancer evos) swapped in there.

wow, it must be a chore importing and driving a RHD car in north america, more power to you.

remind me of the guy who spent an arm and a leg importing a RHD *cavalier* to the US just to be different.

Not sure what offset the rear wheels are, they're custom made IForged Senekas measuring 19" x 13" with 315/25ZR19 Conti-SC2. Fronts are 19" x 10" with 265/30ZR19. The car was purchased as a rolling chassis w/o motor. I put in a stock 993TT 3.6L motor with twin T3/T04's, piggy-back ECU and muffler deletes. I'm slowly assembling a Andial 3.8L race engine with twin-plug heads and LeMans rings (stupid expensive!) that I plan on completing in 2008. Currently, @1.2bar it should easily be pushing around 500hp reliably. The car weighs in at 2780lbs which makes for a quick package. The roll cage is a modified version of the original Porsche Club Sport chro-moly (NASCAR door bars deleted) for easier ingress/egress... still have simple door bars though with RS interior panels.

Posted by: vdub12

sounds great. yeah most things for porsches are stupid expensive. I used to work for an independent porsche shop and i dealt with those cars all the time. 1.2 bar is decent bost and around 500 hp yeah I suppose I think you'll be right around 475ish. I know that the RUF I drove had a 3.6L BT pushing 1.5 bar and made around 470ish to the rear wheels. You could push it up to 2.0 Bar though. Those wheels are really nice I was going to say either iForged or HRE's. The kinesis mesh kinda look like that but they're a bit different. Those wheels are also stupid expensive. Nice car man,, keep it up.

I guess what the sale about cars sales men is true then

If you knew your product you'd notice that the pic posted by ElvaSoShexai was of the Civic Sedan... you posted the pic of the Civic Coupe Si which has a different grill... it's body coloured, not chrome like the sedans.

My question was whether he bought the grill like that or had it painted.

Can't beat 4wd in the rain.. less of a bumpy ride. The S is more of a track car now. All this driving in the street is causing the car to lose rigidity due to bumps and potholes in the city. I'm tired of worrying about hydrolocking and avoiding bumps.
