I just signed up on this frum at the suggestin of a friend of mine. It's good to see there are ome more common interests besides phones and games. Here's me and my fair weathered driver.

Most of the time it's either a Dodge Durango or my wifes Sebring Convertible.

Looks like I would pretty much stick out like a sore thumb around here. Mine is a 2004.5 Dodge 2500 Quad Cab with a 5.9 liter Cummins Turbo Diesel and NV5600 6 speed handshaker. It's got: K&N intake tube with an Amsoil Nanofiber 4091 filter/Outerwear, Magnaflow 5" turbo back with dual 4" outlets, DiabloSport Predator/Puck stack, Isspro pryometer/boost/fuel pressure and Quadzilla rail pressure gauge...

R3ADi7 and Kubus, you guys got any mods?

My friend with his 99 Z28 6-speed just finished this list of mods:
Hooker Shorties
True Duals, no crossover, 2.5" piping
Super 44s
Ported Throttle Body
Ported LS6 Intake
SLP Lid
Free Ram Air

Put down 311rwhp, 314rwtq. A/F was spot on, but the engine was pulling crazy timing. Our tuner is awesome, final numbers were 334rwhp/342rwtq. Not bad at all...nearly 50 rwhp over stock. 23hp out of a TUNE..

He then ported my throttle body and intake and yielded a 12rwhp and 17rwtq from my last run, for a run of 374rwhp/377rwtq. 06 GTO 6spd, btw.

Posted by: kubus_stroinski

My motor is pretty much stock at the moment. I am hoping to do some mods this summer but we will see where money is...

Posted by: R3ADi7

mine is stock too. i don't really have any money for mods at the moment and ls1 performance parts are expensive.

Posted by: vampyrate

well, currently, i have a 1999 pontiac grand am 3.4l v6 coupe

it has full audio done, painted interior, intake and custom exhaust with no resonator and flowmaster 40 series muffler.

eventually i will get headers, tint and lower with 18" rims.

other than that, im saving up money for a bike to start stunting with my buddy from high school and get an eagle talon tsi or eclipse gsx

Posted by: coed234

a few months ago i got a 2008 Scion xD. I love it as its my first brand new car. So far i've only replaced all the factory speakers with a component Polk Audio. Next will be the reciever and tint.

Posted by: Boost3d23

Had a Subaru WRX STi (04), sold a little while back. Going to a M3 (E46 or E36) or RSTi.

Posted by: Serene

I drive a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire Convertible when the weather here allows. Love the car to pieces even though it isn't really the right car for my climate. It does handle decently in the snow, but after seeing the crash test ratings I prefer to keep it for nicer weather because I can't trust all the other drivers.

I also own a 2006 Ford Elite Conversion Van. It's killing me on gas prices but it drives really nice in the snow and so far, no big repairs.

P.S. Nice to meet you all.

My parents had a Maroon 95 version of that car. They sold it back in 2000 because of tons of technical and mechanical problems.

2.2L blowzilla new snout

I run 17psi on the streets 18degrees which makes 606rwhp / 535rwtq
For racing purposes I run 21-22psi which makes the 650hp. I guess its fun smoking the tires in 4th gear. With passengers.

Posted by: Dain

Nice man. My room mate has a '00 GT built and blown with a KB2.2 on it. Built at Modular Powerhouse. Made 647 at 21psi and I guess he said he ran out of fuel up top. Its a BLAST to ride in and with this turn down exhaust...sounds amazing

Posted by: agc612

Thats awesome, modular powerhouse is badass. They are working on my friends stang right now. He plans to make 1000hp.

Posted by: BeaverLiquor

my friend that i went to school with (well his dad) has (or had) a green 99 svt mustang but it's not really an svt anymore. last time i saw him he said they stripped the inside, put in a cage, upgraded the brakes, put in a crate motor (forgot which one though), upgraded the suspension, put in a sequential shifter, it's basically a race car now (not raod legal).

they race or take it to tracks all over the states too, it's a green mustang with the number 99 and maple leafs in gold flakes.

Nice 'Bra!! the new edges have a special place in my heart. When I totaled my 99 GT, I bought it back from the insurance and sold it to Mike (president of NorCal SVT), but he's sold it since.

He tried to talk me into a 03' Cobra, black, with 8k miles and unmolested for $26k back in late 06, but I went with a GTO to have something different. I don't necessarily regret it, but wonder how it would have been if I did. I'll never find another deal like that, but at least I still got the goat for even cheaper.

You must post a video. In fact, we should start a thread... here's an exhaust clip I did recently.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hxq2DtPdmk

Note the mufflers... Mac Flowpaths First on a GTO. This was right after the install, and sounded a bit raspier than it does now.

Why thank you! Should be better this next time around on the rebuild. In that vid it was running on some damn low compression.

At the moment I drive a Pontiac Grand Am GT coupe...It's a PoS with I dunno how many miles on it. The odometer only works 10% of the time. It says 133k but I'm sure it's way more than that.

I'm getting a new car soon though. Trying to decide whether I want to get a Toyota Celica late model/Scion tC late model with miles in the low teens to early twenties OR a 2000 Audi TT Quattro with 48k miles. All three cars are around $13,000-$14,000. And it's going to be a stick shift no matter what. I'm sick of driving boring automatics.

Posted by: jsarino

Go with the Audi...the TT isn't a car you see too often in the streets. Isn't the Quattro a turbo as well?

That's my main reason for just saying, "the hell with miles" and getting the TT. All TT's are turbocharged. The Quattro just means that it has AWD.

But yeah...Since this'll be my first manual transmission car, it'll be awesome learning with the blow-off valve going off all the time!

1994 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer, soon to have a 2.5" exhaust, flowmaster 50 seriers SUV, it has a high flow mangaflow mini cat. putting a 3" lift in the summer with my 31's. got 2 12" subs sittin in the back. painting it black saphire in the summer as well. currently its white. would put bigger tires on, but i got those ones for free, if i get some extra cash, ill probally throw 33's on it.

I had a 95' firefly, got it for 280 bucks, drove the crap out of it, blew the ball joint, ripped the axel out, had to throw on a new control arm and axel, cost me 300 bucks in parts, threw them on myself, sold it for 800 bucks.

im thinking of getting something hopefully newer, like 2000+, hopefully more like 03+, for a little more reliability. not too sure what to get though. i was just looking at a 03 chevy impala police edition, that was pretty sweet. we'll see what happens.

came right after the one above, and sold it because it had a bent rod, cause i needed the $$

1970 international. parked in the backyard for winter, went to move it on a warm day, front end got buried in thawed dirt, back end spun it to death on frozen, then the transmission blew the cooler line right by the exhaust and torched the engine bay. still does not run 4 years later

lastly,

since my buddy lost his liscense to a dui, i do the raping of his car for him since the install. install? installed what?

07+ sentras have the worst headrests, flip them backwards and problem solved. also, ride quality is kinda shoddy on washboard sections of roads (pavement seams at 65). the cvt really makes that car scoot, and the 6spd is pretty crisp, with a very nice clutch. (i used to work as a salesman for the local nissan dealership, i sold the last '07 titan and the first '08 altima coupe)

No complaints about the headrests yet but "jiggling" motion over bumpy pavement I could do without. I think the CVT is amazing, makes it so easy to pick up speed and pass other cars. And mileage is great too.

A few shortcomings but I absolutely love my Sentra .

Well said. See I am on quite a few car forums and we go through this a lot. Just becuase someone's car is kitted out, custom painted, big wheels, fiberglass interior, and much other things, doesn't make it "rice" as long as its clean. Some people would just rather have a show car and not something fast.

just a few excerps from urban dictionary spelled out in lamens for your pleasure:

1. rice
An automobile that has been equipped with gawdy, unnesecary accessories, such as 3' high spoilers, loud and/or repulsive paint job and body work. Owners of such automobiles feel that these accessories make their car the best in the world, when in fact it is not.

2. rice
Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. (R.I.C.E.)Parts put on cars to make them look fast, when they have no internal tuning, and are actually slow as hell. Parts usually consist of excessivley angular bodykits, large rear spoilers, neon, sponsor stickers, chrome rims, fake "coffee can" exhaust tips, and loud, annoying paint jobs and/or vynils. Sometimes parts are do-it-yourself installed and are basically duct taped to the car. Most commonly known for being done to Honda Civics, but can also be done to slow domestic vehicles, such as a Chevy Cavalier, etc.

Trust me, I get it all the time with my car but usually I am with what people say, hate the way it looks now but atleast its fast lol

That's a nice paint colour. Is it the original colour of the car?

here's the lastest of my car after getting rear ended on the highway on November 25th..

since I needed a new rear liftgate I had them weld the 6 holes for the mazda logo, "MAZDA" text, and "323F" shut before painting

I also have proof that I was once young and stupid and had an unpainted CF hood on my car:

the pic is from summer 05 but I just found it yesterday. funny how my car looked way 'faster' when it had 100whp than now with 200whp haha

Its a repaint. I did it about 2 years ago. Its a newer GM color

My car is boring, but it serves its purpose.

I drive a 2007 Ford Ranger. I bought it new in July.

I traded my '95 Ranger in for it, and I couldn't be happier.

It's a four cylinder, down from the 6 in my 95. That combined with the 5 speed manual transmission, gives me some good gas mileage for a truck. It's saved me a pile of cash.

The best things about it? It's reliable, and it has a warranty. I love not having to worry about whether or not my truck will start in the morning.

Here's the picture, taken from my living room window, today. We're getting dumped on, if you can't tell.

Posted by: clauretano

Everyone always complains about the ranger because it's so 'outdated'. It's a friggin truck! I honestly believe the Ranger is the best truck on the market today solely due to Ford's laziness in making a new model. They're crazy reliable, good on gas if 4-cyl, and so cheap! Plus they're the only small truck left now that the Frontier, Dakota, and Tacoma got huge.

I have a 94 Mazda B4000 LE myself. So it's a ranger with the 4.0, it's an automatic (blah I know, the truck was given to me for free in 02 with 40K miles on it), 4x4, two tone paint (medium seafoam green and silver). Love the thing so much!

I just wish it was a 95 so that it got the brand new (at the time) interior with airbags and such. Must be kinda weird replacing a 12 year old truck and getting a truck with the same interior (minus steering wheel, gauge cluster, and a few other tweeks) eh?

The thing people complain about the most is the ride quality. IT'S A PICKUP TRUCK, GET OVER IT. I want to strangle reviewers whenever they mention how you can feel a lack of rigidity in the chassis over bumps. It's not like it's a unibody.. it's a truck. Why waste money on a truck that rides like a Toyota Camry?

How good is the mileage with the 4cyl and 5spd?

time to go look to see if there's such thing as a 4cyl, 5spd, 4x4 ranger. If I bought one (used) it would be a winter-only car, hence wanting 4x4.

I feel like you pulled this stuff right out of my head. I couldn't agree more.

I had been driving my 95 for the past seven years. My dad bought it new, so it was all family miles, 154,000. So, I'm very familiar with the Ranger line. But, my new one is actually a downgrade.

My 95 was a V6 XLT with an extended cab and, basically, all of the options from the time. My new one is a four cylinder XL, regular cab, with pretty much no options. It's the cheapest new truck a person can buy.

It was pretty funny, though. When I picked it up and drove it for the first time, it was pretty anticlimactic. Pretty much everything looked the same as it did in my 12 year old truck. Things only looked slightly updated, but to someone who hadn't been driving one for the better part of the last decade, they wouldn't even notice. It was almost like I went and got my old truck cleaned.

Believe me, though. I love Rangers. If I didn't, I wouldn't have purchased a second one. But, there's no denying that they are about as far from flashy as it gets.

You're right. None of the other automakers are really make small trucks anymore. I looked at all of them before deciding to stick with the Ranger. They're all huge. The only one that is even close to a small truck is the Colorado, and it's way over priced.

cars are based on emissions, not fuel economy, nowadays. in the early 90's there was honda civics getting 50mpg+ stock, more was possible with only flow improving mods.

get a wideband, get megasquirt, and tune your own economy map. 16.8:1 below half throttle, 15.5:1 above half. smooth the difference out, work on keeping timing as little retarded as possible, and enjoy 28mpg on a v6.

I'll keep my 36mpg highway in a 200whp turbo Protege5 hehe. Wideband readings on the highway are 14.6-15.0 it's so good.

fuel economy plummets when I autocross or go to a track day but that's the price you pay for performance.

Breathing mods go a long way. I got 36.6mpg before I turbocharged the car, and since then (been over a year) I have managed 36.2 even with the added backpressure of a turbo.

I just hate all the v8 pickup trucks with 1 person in them and absolutely perfectly clean truck beds. what a waste

Posted by: Sfkn2

Wideband reading.... are we talking about AFR?

You're at 14... I'm at 10.3. That's a huge difference.

Then again, I get 5-8mpg.

Sounds like my car when I do those two activities, but then again since mine isn't a DD anymore, fuel economy isn't a priority. On a typical track day, I'll go through nearly a full tank of gas...not very economical there.

If you're at 10.3 on the highway something's really wrong with your tune.

I hit 9.1 right around 3500-4000rpm then it leans out to 10, then 11 near redline. I <3 my lean map when not in boost though. I wouldn't have turbocharged the car if I couldn't keep the same fuel economy on the highway. It's a 6 hour drive to get home from school, and I can just make it on a full tank. Most of the fuel stops on the NYS thruway are friggin exxonmobil so I refuse to use them. I gotta be able to do the trip on one tank :P

my car still is my DD lol. since it gets 36mpg highway it makes up for it. I've measured as bad as 15mpg filling up just before an autocross and then right after. granted idling while waiting in line only to spend nearly a minute near redline in second gear at full boost will do that.

it's just really sad to get 15mpg from a 2.0 i4

I'll look at the boost graph when I get home later today, I guess.

But 15mpg isn't that bad, considering I'm getting 5-8. Then again, I run 11's.

unless that is WOT forced induction afr's, you're retarded and throwing away half of your gas mileage

a huge exhaust (pipe size) with minimal backpressure (a straight through muffler, or single/double baffle) with a large compressor side on a turbo will increase mpg, theres no reason you can't see 38 or 39mpg

as I said I'm happy with 36mpg considering what most people deal with. It's a 2.5" turboback exhaust with a straight through muffler , a resonator, and a high flow cat.

A 3" would not only be unbearably loud but also the car would probably be that much closer to bending a rod --200whp on a car that stock has 100whp is enough for me in a DD

It was a love/hate relationship. Its only real problem was the rear differnential. I had it in the shop a few times, once they put the 2006 diff in there it was just fine. As much as I hated it, it was soooo fast.

When I go back to the US, I'd get one again. Not a new one, but I'll take a used one for 25g's. Its a nice car with a ton of features. DVD's while driving was probably the nicest one. I just put on music vids, music for me, vids for the passengers.

Well, pretty 'major' change occurred over the past 5 days. Went from my farking 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S (dependable from A to B...thats it), to 2005 Pontiac Grand Am (silver). Tranny finally pretty much gave up (it would move along, but it would go through hell to maintain anything above 35mph).

Checked with bank, got it approved. Got a very very good deal from the guy I bought it through. So while it was the more basic model, I'll be fixing that in the next year or so.

If a FWD car with good tires can't track in the snow, it's not safe to be out in it.

I currently have an '02 Jeep Liberty (named Spunky) haha but he is getting traded in in about 3 weeks as gas is terrible. He's been good to me but it's time for something new.

I'm going to go with a 2008 Honda Civic EX-L with Navigation

I would love an Accord but I don't like the new body styles and since Hondas depreciate so slowly, if I'm buying an Accord or Civic, I'd rather pay a few extra grand and get a brand new one. Seems like the new Civics got the older Accord body styles that I like, and they now offer leather in the Civics starting this year, and that was one of my wants.

Anyone else have an EX-L w/ Navi that cares to share their thoughts?

Agreed, my family has only ever driven FWD with winters (we're in the snow belt) and they work really well. Its always hilarious to see the big pickups being absolutely useless in the snow whilst the little FWD plows ahead. I went to my friends during the winter. The Jetta, Focus, and Malibu made it through fine. The F-150 and Silverado got stuck.

Don't underestimate the power of FWD.

I used to live at the bottom of a hill and one blizzard I'll never forget, is when a van spun out at the bottom of the hill coming aroung the corner headed up. Dug 'emself a sideways trench tryin to make it up. An Eclipse with rims on it spun out like ten minutes later in the same spot, but when it lined up and started up the hill, never broke its pace.

Posted by: EChid

Lol, the other day I was following a truck through town, we stopped at a light with a slight incline. The truck spent most of the green trying to spin its way through the intersection. The VDub went without hesitation. Its funniest because of the personality that most pickup drivers have (in my area at least), i.e. "I could crush your car with my front tire" or "nothing can stop my truck" to which my response is: Yeah, unless it rains, snows, hails, or goes below zero degrees Celsius.

I'd love to get one, but it probably won't be right when it comes out. It'll be when I can afford insurance on it! I paid outright for my Camaro and Trailblazer, so I don't have to get full coverage insurance. I do have uninsured motorist and comprehensive on both cars so as long as whatever happens isn't my fault, it'll be covered.

How old are you? Is it that much more to have collision with a high deductible? (I know it's not cheap, just sayin'). My Saturn is only worth $7,000, but I've been considering getting collision. You can't always assume that you're the best driver in the world, even if you are.

I honestly kinda like it now. It's easy to find in a dark parking lot...at night it looks straight purple. I get comments on it a lot. People tell me I have balls to drive something that color. I just wish it got better gas mileage. It only gets like 24mpg on average.

I hear ya on the quirky first year models and the insurance deal.

I have a 2005 STi, the 2004's were built to run on 93 octane which we don't have so they had pinging problems. Glad I waited a bit.

Since I just recently sold the R32, because it was not able to be registered in Canada, I had been driving it for a year with American plates because it was registered to family in the US because it was the only way I can drive that car, but it was just a hassle for everything, so I decided to get rid of it. I really loved that car in the winter, 4MOTION is a dream, it would never let me down.

But I sucked it up, and got a new ride. 2007 A4 2.0T S-Line Titanium, hopefully this car will do me well for a while.

The rims looks amazing on the car. Thanks for not ruining it with chrome.

I don't know why I haven't frequented the car forum here yet since I'm a car nut, but here's my baby. It's the first car I've ever bought brand new. Then again, I was only 21 when I got it (22 now). Too bad it'll probably have to go when I go to grad school, but that's what happens when you have to be jobless for 2 years.

In a few days it will be a 1993 Toyota Paseo with about 130,000 miles. Comes complete with purple butterfly seat covers, a cracked moon roof, for some reason a trailer hitch, and lots of leaking fluids. All for $500, payable whenever I feel like it. Gotta love friends.

2006 Jeep TJ Sport in impact orange...love it...

Posted by: ZOMGuy

My "new" car. Toyota Paseo, 1993 I believe. Parked in front of my non-running Neon.

Leaks oil and transmission fluid, but hey, it gets like 35mpg, and is a step up in speed from the Neon.

You might want to take action on the front bumper. Its looking a wee tad...seperatist...at the moment.

Oh, the guy who I got it from rear-ended a guy on New Year's. Only damage to both parties was the bumper.

2004 honda crv
any ideas of what i could potentially do to it?
if you have a crv any suggestions on rims and what size and bolt pattern is necessary?

As of right now I have 2 cars. I have a stock 2004 Acura RSX, but my fun car is a 1990 240 SX with an SR20DET swapped into it. Definitely fast and fun, but the swap was pretty bad so I am doing a lot of work on it. Unfortunately, its in the shop now getting a new wastegate actuator put in the turbo, but now my boost will be higher. So I can't wait to get it back monday

The baseball field and surrounding area look identical to one near me. Weird.

EDIT: My research has proven successful. I saw the Taurus in the driveway too (via Google Street View). What up, O-Town? I used to play ball there!

Is that an internal wastegate on a stock turbo? Or an aftermarket one? What turbo you running?

Here's mine:

Yeah it was the internal wastegate on the Stock Sr20det. It had apparently been tack welded together by the previous owner and part of it snapped and pretty much crushed in the bottom of it. But I get to go home and fix it because the shop it was at didn't do anything for it really lol, so its running without the turbo right now.. a sad sad thing.

Its a T25G, although I'd like to upgrade to the T28, but that will be for another day.

Every new Accord release has disgusted me...until I get used to it and consider it for my next car. I like the front, but I still think they could've done better with the rear...

Still, congrats on the new car and gas savings.
