Smartphone install hung, can no longer add/remove programs

I have a mio 8380 and tried to install a game (that may not have been signed the correct way) and it didn't install correctly. Ever since then, if I go to add/remove programs and try to install a utility (such as the Mitac Task Manager), the phone quickly displays the name of the cab file it is trying to install and it is the game install that failed.

I have powered off the phone and browsed through the directories but can't find where it stores the temporary install files. Does anyone know how I can clear out this install program which seems to be preventing other programs from installing?

I have manually copied files and created shortcuts but that doesn't seem to always work.

I think it might be under IPSM\Windows\AppMgr

I checked that directory and it appears empty in explorer. I verified that hidden/system files were set to display. Is there some other setting I am missing?

Are you using Smart Explorer on the phone to check the directories ? You could also check the IPSM directories, especially the Application Data/Volatile directory.

Also have you tried doing a search for the cab name in Smart explorer using Edit - Find ?

The phone doesn't have smart explorer installed and I can't install it. I have been trying to manually install it by copying it to the shortcuts directory but the phone keep freezing because it is out of flash ram. Is there any other way to clear/reset things?

After several tries, I was able to copy a shortcut to phoneexplorer and get it to run. They were under the AppMgr and the AppMgr\Install directory. After clearing all that out, it started working normally.
