Check this out. Not sure if this has been done before, but I've haven't seen it yet, so here we go. You know how if you go # * Menu > you can go to unit info and then Phone Model, and It'll tell you (ie i90c, i95cl, etc), well I changed mine. Please forgive my bad digital camera pics, but here goes.

Anyways, there you go. It says:

I really felt like being a smart *** and making mit sau i99sr, but the stupid bobby jones phone messed up that joke. Thank you very much.

If anyone is bored and want it done to there's, AIM or PM or email me or something.

pics are down. also i dont know about this but i heard if you do change the phone model to something else it might screw up the phone. dont quote me on this, but this is what i heard.

Pics work OK. And no, it wont affect the phone. The phone references it's model like it references the carrier and t9, strictly as text. Won't hurl a single thing. Strictly for show.

so your saying i can change the model string on my i730 if i had the capabilites?? bc i know i talked about this with a pretty knowlegable guy and he said that it will mess up the phone.

No, it shouldn't hurt the phone at all. I'm going to test it on a 730 tomorrow, but I've done it to 2 95's and an i90 and I have had no problems.

Also, my powering on string now says "Yo Soy Dios"

lets see when mine powers up it says on the outside caller ID "new Hotness" and it says BIGJOHN on the inside the phone model is I733 (this is on my 730)
and the pics don't work for me either

Why? Do you think you have the ability to decrypt the entire codeplug, hex it to change it, then reencrypt it, making sure you fix ALL the checksums so it will even load in RSS, then let's rock 'n roll.

well... how can i say it... there is only two checksums for the phone information in the codeplug and they both in the same columns.. one at the somewhat beginning and one like 1/16 down the codeplug... changing the model and model letter is part of the first checksum and second one is something else

... the checksum is only two values and they are the ones that RSS points out to you what is wrong as well... and also you dont HAVE to decrypt the entire codeplug to change them, but just that you need a little time on dissecting what hex is equal to what ascii code. there's my hints on the codeplug...

I know this is a bit off of your topic, but your mailbox is full.

I figured out a favor for a favor deal, if you can meet the challenge. I need to be able to set up some sort of server than I can allow other Nextel users to dl from via their phones. So for example, if you wanted to dl G-Units - Stunt 101 from me, you could just use your phone from the comfort of your own home to do so.
Once you help me figure this out, I will give you permanent access to my server for dling every ringtone I will have available.

People just dont get it. They are spoiled and think that ANYTHING can be explained in 2 lines and 30 seconds. It's more complicated than that. If I could just say "Push These Buttons" then I would, but there's a lot more to it than that. I said I would do it for people for free.

Motorola is getting wise to us. There makng it harder for us ot do what we do. The reason they changed everything was that everyone was able to do it. Common knowledge means changing everything and us starting back from square one.

the issue maynot be where it is, its more of how to get it back to yur phone.... maybe a version of RSS not avaiable to the masses. this may be why telling u exactly how to do it would be futile!

so its easier done with the RIGHT version of RSS
