Phone recommendations?

After been using a Samsung S307 for a while now, I am really not very pleased by its performance in terms of its call quality, reception, and volume, and I have been giving consideration to replacing it. Ideally, I want to replace the Samsung with a more professionally-looking phone that handles the basics of making and receiving calls well. I've been looking at the LG 4050 (based on initial user reviews), the Motorola V500 (although I have no idea when it will be released.), and the Motorola MPX200.
One of the reasons that I have been considering the MPX200 is because it would allow me to consolidate my cell phone and PDA; not to mention, possibly be able to sell the m505 to make some money. If I were to use the MPX200 for basic contact management, etc., would I be correct in thinking this?
Also, since I currently have a contract with Cingular, I would have to have this phone unlocked. I have two questions about that: one, what is the best way to have that done?; and two, how much of an expense am I looking at, by the time the phone arrives in my hands?
As I mentioned in the beginning, being able to make and receive clear calls in terms of reception, quality, and volume, is most important to me. Will the MPX200 let me do this?
Any advice or opinions are greatly appreciated.
