if you dont already know, i'm new to this so sorry....

i wanna know which cable i need to get. am i suppose to get the Sync cable or the Data cable. and what is the difference. i haven't activated web capability on my GU87 but i still want to connect w/my computer so that i can get ringtones, pictures, phonebook, etc. Also what is the average price for each cable? and i think i need software to be able to actually do all of this, is that correct?

i would GLADLY appreciate all the help, thx

you will need software to use the cable with your phone, but there's quite a few places linked (on this forum alone) where you can obtain all of it for free. as for the cable itself... to me, a data cable or sync cable would be the same thing? go with one that says it's to be used for sending ringtones and stuff to your phone (no need to pay the extra to get the one that comes with the cd of billions of tones or whatever, they're all free too ^^ )

really only two different cables available with variants by manufacturer. a regular data cable used for mobile sync or to tether your computer to the mobile for GPRS inet session and the other is a service mode cable used for tweaking the mobile settings. Wither can load software and it is easier to use a regular datacable and fool the mobile into thinking it is a service mode cable than the other way around. That being said, I have seen a couple of posts from people who have modified there cables to go both ways.

how can i modify my unlock cable into a data cable then? see, by using cb2000, i can upload pic took from camara to my pc (at camara calibration), so is it impossible to upload or download files from or to the phone? pls tell
