(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello!
The SX1 was listed today in the german online shop of www.my-siemens.com.
That means it will be avaible in the next weeks.
The German Networkprovider O2 Germany will have it in week 47/48....

Posted by: oneeyejack

thanks for the info.

did they state a price??

Posted by: JMonkeyJ

Don't hold your breath. It will be easily longer than that. Software still not stable enough for sale.

Posted by: nemik

siemens just might as well release the SX2, cuz i doubt sx1 will sell that well with the likes of sendo coming up.

Posted by: Siemensinfo.de

price from siemens is planned 549 Euros

And giles... for the O2 start you need to reab my site better...

there was a big progress during the last months.... software is running relatively stable now......

@siemensinfo....:
some optimistic sources mentionened the end of september as release date. Anyways the SX1 should be avaible at all 4 german providers before Christmas....

549 euros for the releasing price is not bad! i thought it would be more. anyone here sure will be buying one of those upon release?

I get a weekly software drop from Siemens and I can assure you that although it has made big leaps in the last few months it is still VERY poor at this point.

Still a lot of work for them to do.

You must either be kidding or trying to make Siemens look bad

I've had the SX1 for a month now and it's very stabile. In fact, it's more stabile than the final version of the 6600 (which I have two of here). And there has been two updates for the SX1 after the version I got, reported to be even more stabile.

or maybe he doesn't own any of those phones and is completely lying to us??

Posted by: JMonkeyJ

Why would I bother lying? What a stupid comment.

For your information I had my latest drop from Siemens yesterday and it is 'better' but still not suitable for sale.

I have a had a crash today during BT testing, camera operation and POP3 mail access to name but a few.

You may have good experience with yours but my job is to test them 'properly' and I can assure you that it is currently not up to scratch (although it is much better than a few weeks ago).

Expecting another drop next week so i'll let you know. Either way, the idea that it is going to pop up in the shops in the next couple of weeks is a little far fetched

Well, if you're a "proper tester" you should know that you're not allowed to say anything about it's performance or bugs

I still mean your comment about it being 'VERY poor' is far from reality. If it was a Nokia it would have been released some weeks ago, but Siemens seems to have decided to make it close to 100% working before launch

Posted by: JMonkeyJ

Okay, perhaps my comment of Very Poor is over the top compared to the standard that other manufacturers release their devices but it's still my personal opinion.

As for the 6600 I can only agree. The standard of software on some devices that are release can be shocking.

At the end of the day, my entry into this thread was to make the point that people should not expect SX1s to be availible for the next few weeks and offer some basis for my opinion.

I am throughly impressed by the SX1, it's a superb device and I wholeheartedly agree that Siemens are attempting to make it 'perfect' before release. I believe they should be applauded for that.

@JMonkeyJ:

The SX1 will be released before christmas, that means end of November or beginning of December.
That is a fact. Because Siemens can't miss the christmas business.
How stable it will be in 4 weeks we will see.
For my self I will buy my SX1 not before January.....
And by the way the SX1 will be able to got updated by a single file. The means firmware upgrades will be no problem.....

Just one word to the Series60-SoftwareSystem of the SX1, I think that this will run much better than the one from Nokia. I have never seen another company than siemens that invests so much energy in releasing a reliable phone.
And I know what I'm saying.... *just using the T610 and swearing about software...*

Posted by: shaolinmonk

if the price is good i'll get one..but if not the SX-1 is extinct before release in my mind... way to far behind..in the smartphone world with it's delays...perfect phone or not peopel get tired with the waiting.. and also now it's built more expectation so if it's not up to par even more disappointment.... *sigh*

Posted by: nemik

well most important for me is the rf, sound quality, and camera quality. if the camera isn't as good as the one on my 3650, i might just have to opt out . i really hope they kept it the same or even made it better.

post some sample pics you took with the camera if you can. for me. please...

thats an old article and it is already know that it will be available in the first december week in germany

Did someone say 549 Euros for the Siemens SX1 releasing price ?

If that's true, that would be approximately $ 842 CAD.

Therefore, that would be bad.. atleast for me anyway... Price-
wise.

Which means, I'm screwed, because I probably won't be able to afford it.. Rats !!

Posted by: giles_gs

The Price in Canada depends on the fact if the network providers support the Phone. E.g. in Germany you can have the T610 which costs originally 400€ for 49,90€ in connection with a 2-year-treaty.
So maybe in Canada it could be cheaper then 800bucks.

Phonessible.com says they have the SX1 for $99 with a 1 year plan with ATT, but I've never heard of them before and i dont know if they're trustworthy. it seems they have a lot of phones that arent released yet. If anyone tries them, post your results!

The newest information from Siemens is the on December 8th the first 4000 SX1 will be delivered to German Network providers and to special clients.
That means the SX1 will be avaible before Christmas but in a very small amount.
Enough devices for every one will be avaible in January or February.

Once again, I TOLD YOU SO.

January. It will be mid January before any regular people in stores get to see one.

Don't you think they would have shipped them before Christmas if they could have?? January is the WORST time to ship a new handset.
