Schoolgirl sweetheart also planned family slaughter

KAWACHINAGANO, Osaka -- A high school girl questioned by police over her boyfriend's murder of his mother has confessed that she also planned to murder her entire family so that they could live together, police said.

The 16-year-old girl from Kanan, Osaka Prefecture, has admitted to the allegations of intending to murder her parents, grandmother and younger sister.

Questioned by investigators about the motives and background after her boyfriend's arrest, she said, "We planned to live together after we had killed our families."

After the 18-year-old boyfriend, a university student from Kawachinagano, was arrested Saturday, he said that he planned to kill himself because he was tired of living, and had decided to take his family with him.

Police, however, are further grilling the two over their motives since the girl's explanation for the intended slaughter differs from her boyfriend's.

The girl, whose name is being withheld, as she is a minor, allegedly bought a kitchen knife in Osaka on Oct. 28 to stab family members.

"I wanted to live with my boyfriend, but we had no place to go," officers quoted the girl as saying. "So I planned to kill my family. I don't care whether I have parents or not, it's all the same to me."

Her arrest shocked officials of the high school in Osaka where she was enrolled.

"I never heard that she had family problems," the head teacher of the school said. "We knew her as an excellent student. I am completely stunned." Officials of the school said she had garnered top-level grades in the entrance examinations and had ranked as one of the best students since admission.

The boyfriend fatally stabbed his mother with a knife and used the same weapon to slash his father and younger brother at their home early Saturday morning.

The boy then fled by car and contacted his girlfriend, saying, "I think my mother is dead, but the other two might still be alive," officers said.

The boy drove to a convenience store near her home where they met shortly before police arrested him. During questioning, the girl admitted to planning to kill her family, and was promptly arrested.

Police said that the girl and the boy began dating around September last year.

The officers added that she felt lonely when she was a junior high school student and had attempted suicide. "After getting to know my boyfriend, I regained my composure. He really understands me well," she told the officers.

The parents of both the girl and boy weren't particularly opposed to the two of them dating. Both families were on friendly terms with each other. (Mainichi Shimbun, Japan, Nov. 2, 2003)

What were they thinking? Especially since both families were on freindly terms w/ each other. I can understand that if not then you porbably want to kill them.

it's amazing what poeple will do for "puppy love"...I have a friend who actually dropped out of an ivy league school, which his parents were paying for, gave his lexus gs400 back to his parents, gave up everything, and married a girl who had just gotten back together with him, after breaking his heart 2 months before.....he's only 5'0 so she said he "didn't make her feel like a woman" but then he went crawling to her, and asked her to marry him....what a moron

by the way, they are now living in gov. subsidized housing, and ca barely afford to eat, I bet she's kicking herslef now, b/c we all know that she only married him b/c she thought she was getting $$$$$
