why is it every time you think your car is fixed & everything is working for a change something goes wrong, on the way home i was slowing to make a turn & noticed my foot was to the floor. damn break line burst.

Posted by: karibOS

wow, sorry to hear that, man.

Posted by: troymanca

**** that sucks
so how did u stop the car......

or were u driving slow enough not to worry about it

Posted by: phatroyale

that really sucks to hear man, you should get things
like that checked out by a mechanic asap, just for
safety reasons

meh, il just kinda limp it into the shop using the back roads, (not looking forward to a 25km drive with no breaks) & do all the work myself as much as i hate break lines. il try to do a bit of a patch jobbie in my driveway so i can at least have a bit of break power.

1989 dodge aries. this is proving to be a bit more difficult than I was originally planning. Im going to have to try to fix it in my drive way, at least stop the leak anyways then take it into the shop becuase theirs no way im driving it with no brakes at all for 25 km. if I can just replace the section thats leaking I can limp it to the shop & bleed the lines there. I have a feeling I will need to replace the main cylininder too because the bleeder screw is probly rusted in. its been raining the last 2 days so I havent had a chance to get down & under the car to check out the damage.

FAK i just spent an hour outside in the driveway trying to fix that damn line, iv found out what line it is & where its leaking. now i have to find some way to pinch the line, iv tried plyers but the line is still way to strong to pinch. anyone have an ideas? BTW its so damn cold out there that the water from the rain today the hood is frozen

ouch sorry to hear.... just did a tune up today.. cost me 350!!! 8(..

and i will have to change my timing belt very soon it about to hit 100k km soon.. going to cost me 500-600 8(...

Posted by: doom on j00

My timing belt lasted 200,000 km before it went . anyways I got the brake line fixed after anonther hour out in the dark with a trouble light & some plyers & lots of swearing. now all i have is front breaks so when you press the brake pedel down its loose till you just about at the floor then the fronts engage, you dont seem to have much play with the front brakes though, seems its either no braking or hard stop right now. anyways, thats good enough to get it into the shop.

Posted by: xgambit

have fun with the ebrake

Posted by: doom on j00

dont need the ebrake, front brakes work now.

Posted by: dielow

yeah that does suck it happen to me 3 times
trying using a visgrip

Posted by: doom on j00

*sigh* its nice that people are being helpfull but if you read up a ways I said the leak itself is stopped. anyways, gonna make the 25km trip into the shop in a few min. Should be interesting.

Posted by: phatroyale

aight, good luck with that

Posted by: doom on j00

w00t! made it into the shop just fine. hit a bump about 1km from home & the rear shock went right trough into the trunk though
