P900 strange small exclaimation point

Hi P900ers

OK, so, how many hours have YOU wasted this week futzing with the new toy ????

OK, here's an odd thing -- has anyone experienced it? It shows up after a few seconds after someone answers the call, and only during a call (it goes away as soon as I hang up) First, a few seconds after a connected call, I hear the same SE beep that one hears when they go from the "calling to the connecting" phase before call complatetion. and then a small yellow triangle with exclaimation point shows up in the top of the connection dialog, See below. It doesn't seem to affect anyhting, noting goes wrong, nothing is inaccessable, nothing is crashed or unfnctional, it just is there. I thought maybe it was some warnng regarding a bluetooth connection or something, but no matter which bluetooth mode i am in, it still shows up -- also, it doesn't matter the phonenumber called, happens on all of them. But, it does NOT happen 100% of the time, just mostly.

Any similaer experiences?

I believe it means that ciphering is not being provided by the network, but I could not find it in the P900 user guide.

Perhaps it is unavailable at the moment, or if you move to another network, maybe you won't see that icon.

I had to look back to the Ericsson R520m user guide to find that one. The R520m is still a great phone, but these days I prefer to carry my P900.

Yep, that is EXACTLY what it is ... see this from another post after I did a search fr ciphering:

theres the official answer from SE

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.

" Ciphering is a built-in feature that scrambles your calls and messages to provide additional privacy". According to this, it is safe to use your mobile with this function as it makes difficult for others to attack your calls. When ciphering is on by the operator, there will be no sign on your mobile's screen. " An exclamation mark inside a triangle is shown in display during a call to indicate that ciphering is currently not being provided by the net work". This means that your mobile has this built-in feature to inform you that your phone calls are not secure. If the above mentioned sign appears on your mobile's screen, then security is not provided from the operator for your phone calls. Since the security is not provided from the operator for your phone calls, therefore, there is nothing you can do in order to stop the "Beep" sound as the Ciphering is built-in feature which inform you that your phone calls are not secure.

If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact the Sony Ericsson
