Cingular MPx200 Settings

Has anyone gotten their Motorola MPx200 to fully function on Cingular's network?

I have entered the GPRS Data & GPRS WAP settings from http://www.wheresmycell.com/cingular.pdf.

GPRS data seems to be working, but WAP does not. I can't get to http://device.home

How have you setup the WAP connection ?

I believe this is how the smartphone settings should be based on the wheremycell.com document and WAP should hopefully work if the proxy connection is created.

It is also common to see the following settings for WAP although its not included in the above document. I would probably try these for both Cingular WAP and MMS if you have any problems.
APN: wap.cingular
User name: WAP@CINGULAR.COM
password: CINGULAR1

I have included the MMS setup at the end although AFAIK the Cingular MMS settings have not yet been confirmed. MMS should work on all smartphones (except AT&T MPX200 ).

You can test the data connections with the following
http://(Internet or WAP address) to use the Internet Connection
wsp://(WAP address) to use WAP connection

Good Luck

The MPx200 has four different sections to configure data connections:

1) Dial-up Conn
2) VPN Conn
3) Proxy Conn
4) GPRS Conn

I currently have configured the following for "Cingular Wireless Internet Express Pkg":

1) Dial-up Conn:

Nothing

2) VPN Conn:

Nothing

3) Proxy Conn:

Description: Cingular Proxy
Connects from: The Internet
Connects to: WAP Network
Proxy: 66.209.11.61 (Do I need a port here?)
Type: HTTP or WAP (I have tried both)
User: blank
Pass: blank

4) GPRS Conn

Description: Cingular GPRS
Connects to: The Internet
Access Point: isp.cingular
User: ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Pass: CINGULAR1
DNS: blank
IP: blank

AND

Description: Cingular WAP
Connects to: The Internet or WAP Network (I have tried both)
Access Point: wap.cingular
User: TCRESDC5RFDX@W3.MYCINGULAR.COM
Pass: ZJULDAGEN98810
DNS: blank
IP: blank

Then under the main data connection configuration:

Internet Connection: Cingular GPRS

Work Connection: Nothing

WAP Connection: Cingular WAP

Secure WAP Connection: Nothing

AND

Pocket IE

Automatically detect settings checked off

Select network: The Internet

With the above settings I am able to goto http://mobile.msn.com or http://www.google.com/wml. But if I try to goto Cingular's WAP homepage http://device:home or http://device.home the connection fails.

Thanks for the help,

All the addresses that you tried will use the Internet connection.
If http://www.google.com/wml works then that means that your WAP proxy connection is correct.

I would now try accessing the Cingular homepage using the WAP connection.
Cingular WAP should have 'Point to: The Internet'
In IE check 'auto detect settings'
First acccess wsp://www.google.com/wml to confirm that the WAP APN is correct. Goto Menu-properties to confirm protocol WSP.
Try and access wsp://device:home or wsp://device.home

Hopefully it will work
