P900 Bluetooth and DBS

What I want to know (and am surprised that no one has touched on yet) is how much better the P900 works with the Digital Bluespoon.

Is the P900's bluetooth stronger than the P800's? I remember people always complaining that they couldn't have their P800's very far from the DBS - that the P800 needed to be on their right side or in their right pocket when operating the DBS. Did SE strengthen the BT (or iron out the problems) with the P900?

It s working perfect no problems what so ever.
great reception, no drop calls.
works well with phone on the right, left, etc.
on the briefcase, etc.
files from the computer back and forth w/o problems.

MV4 are you able to transfer sound to the dbs after picking up the call on the P900 and can you voice dial using the dbs?

If I have my "Handsfree - Prefered Sound Device set" to Headset, everything seems to be working ok - But if it is set to Phone, which I prefer, then I cannot transfer the the sound to the headset, nor can I make voice dialing.

Is this a P900 bug? I was going to wait for a firmware update before making a hell out of it!

I noticed this problem yesterday, and e-mailed Jan at Nextlink, just to see his resonse before we talked of it here. He said they have not had a P900 to test on, and seemed to basically say if this is happening, then it is a phoone issue, not a Bluespoon issue. So, I guess this is something we have to live with, until there is a fix. Basically means, if you want to use the DBS (and the same thing happens when I tried the Panther), then you better have it in your ear when in range, otherwise, if you call out, and forget to transfer, you have to scramble for your BS, or, do the unfortunate and timely 3 step transfer from the phone, which will, more often then not. leave your callee in the world of dead air for a sec or 2.

I'm on the same firmware as you, and I can do the voice dial in Handset mode.

Hvae you remembered to enable Voice Dialing under the Voice Control menu? ;-)

lol yup did that. The first time I used the phone I was able to send my contacts from the P800 to the P900 without a problem now it doesnt want to accept incoming connections atall. The P800 cant even see the P900 even when its in discoverable mode. Bluetooht is set to On and is set to visible to other devices. Is there any setting I'm missing. I did a master reset didnt help then I had restored the phone from a backup and tried again. After that I tried an internal disk format still nothing. This thing is really annoying me.

Is SEs firmware flashing software out yet? Maybe I can give that a try.

Sure sounds like your P900 has got a serious problem... It's not ment to be like that I guess

And no, as far as I have been able to figure out, SE still haven't launced Autoupdate yet

Same problem here:
- My P800 does not find My P900 to send contacts over BT (I had to use IR).
- The P900 could not find the BS Chameleon
- The P900 could --after a few minutes of searching-- find the hbh-60 headset, but it could not bond in order to complete the pairing. It tried to bond for a few minutes, but then it failed.

I lost two hours last night trying to pair a headset with the P900 without success.

I just called SE US. The rep I got was trying his best to help but since he doesnt have access to any data on the P900 he couldnt do much. He checked but they dont have access to the P900 firware to flash the phone for me. He said that that should hopefully be avalible mid-end of Nov and the phone should be released here dec-jan. I hope they release that auto update software soon. I also emailed SE UK waiting for a reply.

It feels like the visible to other devices option doesnt do anything except change the bluetooth on icon to the bluetooth discoverable icon.

Still very little progress at this point:

- Headsets: The P900 finds the headsets, requests the passkey code, but then it fails to bond and complete the pairing.

- The p900 can see the p800 but can not exchange data (P800 set to discoverable).

- The p800 can not find the p900 even when the p900 is "discoverable" --for example, the P800 can not bluejack the P900 or vice versa. (The P800's bt is working okay --as good as it gets with the P800.)

The P900 is on firmaware:
