Hi guys,

I just wanted know, which of the following upcoming phones is better, keeping in mind the features, price range, battery life, repair ratio, etc.

Don't forget, Slider is Dual mode.

Thanks for your opinion.

8450 will have Java. They both have speakerphones, but the Slider is just too sweet. Depends on looks I guess. I will reply back when I see and play around with the real phones.

The Slider is Dual Mode - no Analog?

Too bad - I still need Analog backup. I am guessing that the Motorola T7xx series will not being coming to Bell?

GG

Is the slider phone spring loaded? Or is it one of those lamo pull the tab down 8 year old technology sliding phones?

neither of those new phones are J2ME equipped.

Did not read the specs in detail, but the 8450 and 8455 will be able to download games. The Slider won't.

i think you can play the games that are available through mobile browser (as you can with any browser equipped phone), but they aren't Java phones.

Check the specs on source advantage, it says you could download games and apps.

i will have to check into it at work tomorrow, i can't pull it up at home.

According to the manual the slider is Brew 2.0 based. If so then we should be able to download games unless Bell changed the o/s or locks out downloads.

Posted by: ALLKNOWING

The Slider will not have any downlaodable games as Bell Dose not support Brew

The 8450/8455 will be Java enabled and will have downloadable games.
It will also have Web games as DJ has indicated

it isn't java enabled...otherwise, how would they expect people to buy the N400 which would offer almost the same features for over twice the price.

Did you check the specs yet on the 8450 on source?

not yet...i do to work in an hour, i will check when i get there.

i did look through it quickly and didn't see anything saying it had java in it...and for a $74 phone, how would they expect to sell the N400 which only adds a flip for the extra money?

The specs don't talk about Java, but they do say that the phone is able to download games and apps.

According to PhoneScoop...
"This tri-mode CDMA phone packs a color display, Java (J2ME), speakerphone, and voice dialing into an affordable package. Additional features include 1xRTT high-speed data, polyphonic ringtones, and voice memo. Similar to the 8400, but with Java in place of BREW."

i looked at it today, and it does talk about games, but if it were java, i think it would have said it was java capable...i really can't see it having that for such an inexpensive phone...i guess we will have to wait until the phones come in before we can be sure...who knows, i could be wrong.

that doesn't really matter though...what phonescoop says and what is really in the end product can and will be two different things.

According to PhoneScoop...

Nokia 3586i

"This update to the 3585i adds a color display. Other key features include 1xRTT high-speed data, polyphonic ringtones, Java, voice dialing, and user-changeable covers with unique integrated lights."

Samsung A500

"This tri-mode CDMA phone from Samsung was one of Sprint's flagship PCS Vision phones. Key features include a large color display, 1xRTT high-speed data, an optional camera attachment, and J2ME (Java) support. Additional features include voice dialing, WAP 2.0, a large external display, PIM (organizer) features, GPS positioning, and polyphonic ringers."

netiher of these phones have J2ME (Java) with Bell even though they are available in the US with it.

Good point. Unless they plan to *really* cut the price of the N400, its probably been cut out of the Audiovox.
