MPx200 Startup Sound

Does anyone know how to change the startup sound on the MPx200? Right now it is set to the Moto_Startup, but I have a new wave file I want to use. I tried searching in the registry for the "Moto_Startup" but I was unsuccessful.

I tired looking here:

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewto...der=asc&start=0

with this information:

System Startup Sound
Anyhoo, fire up the registry editor and change this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/SystemStartup
Select 'Values'
Select 'Sound'
Change Value Data to the path and name of your wav

A few problems with this info. I don't have a "systemstartup" folder just a "systemstart" folder and I don't have a "sound" value in my "system start" folder.

I think this info was for the SPV.

Any suggestions?

I have an SPV with the QTEK 1.5 ROM and its called SystemStart on mine. I have Category (Notification) value and a Sound value. I'm not sure you can change the Sound Value to a WAV so I would try changing it to another MIDI file first and see if that works. I suspect the value SystemStartUp was a mistake

You could try Menu-Tools-Find and tick locate in Keys, Values and Data in your search for Moto_Startup.

Unless Moto_Startup happens to be a file included in the \IPSM\Windows\StartUp directory ?

On my MPx200 the default startup sound file is a .wav file named "moto_startup", so looks like the MPx200 uses .wav files for this function.

The moto_startup.wav file is in the \Windows folder on my phone.

Maybe you could take the .wav file you want to use, give it the name "moto_startup.wav" and overwrite the existing file in the Windows folder?

Dunno if that will work or not. I know at least some of the files in the Windows folder seem to be protected and can't be overwritten/deleted.

I have a Audiovox SMT-5600, and I dont currently hear anything when my phone starts up. However, I tried all of the above and nothing works...

What I did do, was try to use something that was already in the phone (even though I cant see it in File Manager, I know its there. I used LB.wav) and when I set the LB.wav file as a start up sound, I hear it.

So I guess the main question is: Where are the system sound files located?

I would like someone else to try that if they can, since I dont want to install that on my phone. I'm afraid of what it associates itself with and such...

On anther forum, mobilegadgetnews, with alot of help I finally figured out my problem:

All of the system wavs I was trying was working, but all of my custom wavs were not... So my Dad actually told me that it might be the bitrate or the way they are encoded. So I re-ran my wav thru Sony Sound Forge and changed it from I think it was like 44khz 16bit Stereo. I changed all of that to the default.wav file settings which were 22khz 8bit Mono. And it worked first try

My issue now is that my wav was like 4 seconds long, and after about the 2 second mark, it started to crap out. Basically whats going on is the phone is at 100% CPU load and while booting it doesnt have enough power to spare to play my soundclip. Anything under 2 seconds sounds fine though...

So, in conclusion. Use 22khz 8bit Mono for your wavs, and keep them under 2 seconds.

Thanks for all of the help, from everybody...

I still dont have the shutdown sound working yet. As soon as I figure it out I'll post back.
