that people are thinking of buying phones all they way from japan and pay for shipping knowing that those phones wont work as phones , but just for the cool screens , megapixil camreas , and mp3 playing ...

its a shame

if they wont work as a phone, then its a shame some people would waste the money when they could be buying a better digi camera for less!

what i dont understand also is , the fact that a company like SE (at least the S part) is making and selling those kinds of phone in japan , with megapixil cameras , 262K TFT QVGA displays SD slots , you name it , but when it comes to their phones sold is NA and europe , it seems the same company it self cant make a decent display , or a decent camera

and the other thing is , when a japanes phone maker try to make a phone for the GSM world like panasonic or sharp , they never make it as good as the ones they sell in japane , not even as half good ...

sadly true, my lovely new gx20 is looking outdated in comparison to some of those jap/korean phones

there are some things to consider.. from a business point..also some old regulations..

in the past, there was a joint agreement between asian countires to keep new technologies within the county for 5 years before releasing to world markets... this practice was kept but abandoned recently in the past 5yrs, as they just realized that the rest of the world was catching up... but the fact is that the technolgy there is on average, more advanced then here...
ie: flat screen tvs in korea are half the price here while offering the highest level of brightness... but these tv's are only avalible in korea/japan... you can purchase stuff from vending machines, subway tickets by cell phone.. even the computers are amazing nice, sony and samsung make laptops only for their domestic markets.. my aunt has a fridge that keeps track of what's in the fridge and makes shopping lists...my cousin in high school has a school supplied pda that allows them to connect to the school net where ever they are, look up hw, chat with teachers, other class mates.... just cool stuff not avaiable here and there's alot more..

now from a business point.. in asia, especially japan/korea/china... production cycles are quciker as the requirements for new production is less and lifecycle of products are less, the asian market requires new products on an average of under 6months while in NA, it is about 9~11 months... they also must prove that they can sell more before production begins in a NA company vs. in asia...

since the cycles are much quicker, there is left over stock... this goes to the rest of the world.. they make the money by staying with the world technolgy level, which just happens to be less then korea/japan. yes, they could just release all the new stuff to the world, but this would be lost revenue and higher rd cost... this gets even more technical... japan and korean business practices are different, they are just more efficient..

ps.. this is just stuff i learned in school...

the V801SA operates on all GSM frequencies, so you would be able to use it in the States. I doubt it'll be unlockable though.

umm

alot of the technlogy spoken of is in fact available in North america and parts of Europe.

its just that its not took off so the prices are still very very high.

whilst in japan, the people take to new technology like a duck to water.

In fact Japan are not far ahead in the technlogy field to be honest, as technology means everythign not just the things u hear about e.g. cars, phones. Technology stretches to airplanes, watches mobile homes, internet homes, internet fridges.

The US seems to spend more money on technological advances in military, and space. where-as the other countries spend it on more consumer based products.

its a real shame that al gore didnt get into power as he was a big fan of technology.

technlogy would have moved at a even faster pace then!

yeah, al gore rocks because we all know he invented the internet
