Sharp GX20 - silent mode using shorcut??

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just a quickie.
I have just brought the Sharp gx20 in the UK. Love the phone .

I was wondering if there is shorcut key for putting the phone into VIBRATE ONLY but using a SINGLE key(shotcut) and not the menu system.

I love that function on my old samsung by pressing the right key and i havent read anything to with that in manual/forums.

Also the GX20 is not active slip is this true?

Many Thanks

I m currently using a GX22.......on the GX22, when in standby mode, u just have to press and hold the # key and it will display a list of profiles.....there u can select "silent" if u want it to vibrate only.

Ya, it does not have an active flip

Why do that when it takes too long. Just press menu,7,5 for silent. Holding the # key on this phone is kind of useless because it takes too long and you still have to select silent after the profiles are displayed. Wish they made the # key an auto silent button like other phones.

Thank you for replying about the muting shortcut.
I ave another question for all you GX20 owners.

I have just ordered the MA-8110P Sharp Fone Data Suite.

I downloaded from their homepage the handset manager to play around with.

The question is I noticed the manager imports .wav and midi file only but all ringtones sites when you download the file comes up as mp3

So what do or do or have i bought a dud? .

Please Explain what I do, I get the cable toms morning

Many Thanks

so convert them to wav? or just record the piece of sound u want using sound recorder? etc etc

A lot of the ringtone sites let you hear the ringtones on your computer in MP3 format but that isn't necessarily the way you'd get them delivered. A load of ringtones are actually in MIDI or SMAF (which is a Yamaha proprietary format similar to MIDI that has some copy protect on it).

The GX-20 can play back SMAF, MIDI's and I think WAV's if they're encoded using GSM codec but not MP3's. I've never tried the WAV thing though. MIDI's seem to work really well and you can upload them no problem. That Mobile Action software lets you upload MIDI's up to 50k bytes or so. There's tones of MIDI's on the Internet and I've got the Verve, depeche mode and others playing my ringtones. :-D

You can also get tools off the Internet that can convert MP3's to MIDI's in a sort of way.

Good luck.
