Ranking of Best Cell phone display today!!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Alright, noting that the highest amount of colours on cell phones today is 262k (18bit) followed by 65k (16bit), then 4k (12bit).
Also taking into consideration TFT is the best display technology followed by TFD then STN, here is the ranking of Best Cell phone displays out today (feel free to add to the list).

1) Sharp GX-22: 262k TFT 240x320
2) LG 5450 / LG VX 6000: 262k TFT 120x160
3)

Well, I don't think you can just say the best screen is the one with the best spec. A really crappy TFT won't be as good as a TFD, for example. There's also brightness, resolution, color saturation, etc. (and others, please correct me if I am wrong because I am not well-versed in the qualities of screens).

Yep your right..You cant really rank displays on a phone, just because of whats on paper..There are other factors included,as hawsk has said

OK, then we'll separate this into two categories.

Category 1 - Best display today as shown on spec sheets:
1) Sharp GX-22: 262k TFT 240x320
2) LG 5450 / LG VX 6000: 262k TFT 120x160
3)

Category 2 - Best display as seen by myself and confirmed by majority of cellphone users
1) Sharp GX-22: 262k TFT 240x320
2) LG 5450 / LG VX 6000: 262k TFT 120x160
3) Nokia 6188: Black and White LCD 65x65
4)

So if no one cares to add or dispute the list, then a Nokia 6188 using display technology from the late 1990's will remain in 3rd place, which in effect, puts to shame any other cell phone out there today...hehehehe. And yes, that includes Samsung SGH-i700, Sanyo 5300..etc....

Lol..well i think im gonna have to replace the 6188,and put the 3650.and then the sanyo 8100

Good choices,
But I can't wait till the Nokia 3620 comes out. GSM850/1900 with a 240x320 65k MD-TFD display

Um, what majority? I think you'll be better off setting up a poll or something, otherwise I don't see the 2 categories being any different (since it is your opinion, I don't anyone can disprove something that is totally subjective).

Fair enough. OK, so we'll go strictly by Manufacturers specs. Heck, I just want to get a list going. We'll prioritize first on display technology, TFT being the best, then TFD, then STN. Then number of colours. Last being resolution.

So I'll start off again, giving the 3 cell phones in existence today with 262k TFT colour screens. You all can add to this:

1) Sharp GX-22: TFT 262k 240x320
2) LG 5450 / LG VX 6000: TFT 262k 120x160
3)

Let's not argue "Oh, some STNs are manufactured better than some TFDs" and "oh this ones much brighter than that". We'll just list purely on spec just to get an idea. Once one actually does go to the store and notices that some STNs are manufactured than some TFDs, then you can buy whichever you want. But till then, will just compile a list based on technology and numbers.

I'm really sorry to break it to you guys but the amount of colors does not mean as much as the resolution and brightness. For instance and 3650 screen is a 1,000 better than a T610 even though the T610 has a 65k and 3650 has a 4k screen. When I first saw the Lvx 6000 i did not believe that it was a 262k screen because next to my panasonic GU87 it looked like ****.The screen was very dim and it was set to the highest brightness level. All the colors seemed the same on the lvx600(all dark shades while taling pictures).Maybe that was just while taking pictures but i don't want a camera phone that takes dark pictures even in bright areas. The T610 is 65k but I hate to say this...The 7250i looks brighter.

1.Gx22
2.Panasonic GU87
3.NEC 525
4.6600

GX22 ALL DA WAY!!!!

Not that it will compete with your list, but I'd have to say that the Motorola V300's 176x220x65K TFT screen's really sweet. Considering the V300's competition is the current "entry-level" Nokias, Samsungs, Siemens & sonys, I'd say it's on the top of that list.

Note that phones like the GX-20(22), P800's not what I'd call an entry-level cellphone....

Here's some pics, thx to Drymartini69 for the link
