I realize the frequencies supported are different on the SL56 than the S55 (and SL55), but overall...

I'm trying to find a GSM phone with better RF than the T616 (but similar or better sound quality).

Fido is shipping me an S55, and I've heard great things about the SL5x in regards to RF.

1. RF same/similar between Sxx and SLxx?

2. Any irritating features about either?

(i.e. I've heard that since the S55's phonebook is by first/last name, there is no way to sort by first name... is that true?

--> I realize the screen is much better on the SLxx, and the speakerphone volume is louder, but I'm not too concerned about that... as long as it has a half decent screen and speakerphone I'm good.

I just want a reliable phone cuz I'm trying to fight my way out of Telus service but not having too much luck (with Fido service anyway -- Rogers seems like they don't have any reasonably priced plans aside from the unadvertised corporate deals).Plus I don't think I could go with Rogers in good conscience.

well i tried both phones...SL55 has better RF than S55...but SL56 does have better RF than SL55 and S55..
